Nagpur: Invoking great personalities like Swami Vivekananda, Dr Ambedkar and Veer Savarkar, the RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat said all of them emphasised on preserving our culture and spreading the feeling of fraternity to ensure liberty and equality. He was addressing the valedictory function of 25-day RSS third year Sangh Shiksha Varga on June 9. Editor of Bengali weekly Vartaman Shri Rantideb Sengupt, was the chief guest. Varga Sarvadhikari Dr Vanyarajan, Karyavah Shri Harish Kulkarni and Nagpur Mahanagar Sanghachalak Shri Rajesh Loya also shared the dais at the concluding ceremony.
Shri Bhagwat said our culture is based on truth and life values derived from our ancestors. No one can destroy this culture, he added. We need to understand this intrinsic strength of our culture and unite with awakening what he called Deshatmabodh, imbibing all the good virtues.
He recalled how Dr Ambedkar drew the inspiration for liberty, equality and fraternity from Buddha and not from the French Revolution as is widely believed. He said Dr Ambedkar stressed on spreading fraternity as pre-requisite to ensure equality and liberty. Internal bickering would weaken the society and expose it to alien domination. We need to eliminate ignorance, illiteracy, caste-based divisions, outdated customs and traditions to unite the society. He said the concept of motherhood is the specialty of India only. We need to qualitatively enrich our lives with good virtues, and offer that at the service of the motherland, and thus create a society of such people who can take our motherland to the highest pinnacle of glory.
Shri Bhagwat was all praise for Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s speech at US Congress saying Modi’s speech underlined the attachment to India’s culture and heritage that formed the basis for emotional unity in India. “The Prime Minister spoke without belittling any country, keeping self-respect of his own nation unaffected, and tried to drive home what India feels about the goings-on in the world today in a language that would be understood by all. In doing so he extolled the importance of the host country but it was not the praise,”
he said.
Presiding over the function noted journalist Shri Rantideb Sengupta said the RSS was fulfilling the mission of Swami Vivekananda who had, in a letter to his disciple Alasainga Perumal had stressed the need for starting a man-making mission from central India way back in 1894. Swamiji wrote to Alasainga Perumal on November 19, 1894 that there was a need to start such a mission from Central India to revive Indian traditions, culture, and, rising above the caste divisions, unite the people by inculcating a nationalist character in them to protect the interests of the society and the country. Dr Hedgewar started the RSS in 1925 at Nagpur and today the Sangh has spread its work all over the country thus fulfilling the dream and mission of Swami Vivekananda, Shri Sengupta said. Today the RSS is working for the unity, integrity and development of the country, he affirmed.
The function was attended by many prominent personalities drawn from different sections of the society. They included Editor of India Today Arun Poorie, former FICCI chief Shri Rajiv Chandrasekhar, industrialist Shri K Satyanarayanan, Amrinder Singh from SGPC Patiala, S Ramadurai of Tata Consultancy, Shantanu Bhattacharya from Kolkata and others. Earlier, Shri Harish Kulkarni, Karyavah of the camp, informed that 978 trainees and 110 trainers attended the camp. The 25-day camp was inaugurated by RSS Sah Sarkaryavah Shri Dattatreya Hosabale on May 16. Besides the regular training, the participants were imparted training in shramsadhana, bio-farming, jhola vachanalaya, journalism, women’s empowerment, life of Dr Ambedkar and social harmony.
