Uttar Pradesh : A short films festival held at Prerna Institute in Noida generated quite an enthusiasm among budding film-makers of Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. About two dozen student-groups sent their short films of less than 15 minutes duration in both fiction as well as documentary categories. Winners were awarded by Shri J Nandakumar, RSS Akhil Bharatiya Sah Prachar Pramukh, Shri KG Suresh, Director General of Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Shri Sandeep Marwah, a veteran of short film-making (himself has made 2,300 short films) and Smt. Neeta Gupta, member of Censor Board.
The topics for short films were given in advance to the media students studying in and around Noida and Ghaziabad. These included yoga, health, environment, education, Make-in-India, digital India, save-the-girl-child, dowry eradication, social cohesion, clean India and poverty. Out of about 24 entries, 17 were found to relate to the above topics. These were screened in festival held on April 24.
On this occasion Shri J Nandakumar said the films based on social themes are needed to guide the masses onto a path of cohesion and spirit of equality. He exhorted the participating students to take themes from Bhartiya history and milieu.
