With the expansion of RSS inspired organisations in different walks of national life including service and education sector, the noble values of the Sangh permeates the entire society as if a thread that runs through all the pearls
With the aim of transforming the society and reorganising and rejuvenating the national life, Swayamsevaks in co-operation with other motivated people from the public have launched many mass organisations dedicating themselves to various causes towards the nation building and social tranformation. Contrary to the widely held view which born out of ignorance, in fact, these autonomous organisations have never been under the direct control of RSS. It is the RSS trained Swayamsevaks who venture into various fields and strive for social harmony with equality, empowerment of marginalised sections, imbibing Bharatiya values and evolving conciliatory approach towards complex issues through these organisations. As a responsibility towards the parent organisation, they present their annual reports in the RSS Pratinidhi Sabha. If one has to understand the meaning of ‘RSS does nothing except character building, but Swayamsevaks do everything’, we have to unfold and analyse the objectives and reach of these nationalist organisations.
In service to the weaker section of the society and to strengthen the social fabric further, these organisations have been persistently working in various fields of social life such as political, education, service, intellectual, labour, economic etc. In the recently concluded Akhil Bhartiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) at Nagaur in Rajasthan, they presented detailed reports mainly focusing on the annual growth and work of the organisations.
RSS has often been dubbed a masculine organisation by its opponents. This flawed perception demands a serious review and correction for those who always miss to see the strength and endeavours of the ‘other RSS’, Rashtra Sevika Samiti. Instilling the spirit of nationalism with a patriotic fervour among Bharatiya women, Rashtra Sevika Samiti has been organising Hindu women across the country. Sharing its ideological line of the Sangh, the Sevika Samiti has been organising several activities with an active participation of women of all walks of life.
Along with many popular organisations like BJP, ABVP, VHP etc which are working among the masses for the masses of the masses, there are equally important service oriented organisations which serve the society silently.
Founded by Guruji Golwalkar and SS Apte in collaboration with Swami Chinmayananda, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) is working for the society, not only in Bharat but all over the world. Looking back to the past one year, the major activity of VHP was its golden jubilee year celebration.
Translating the very idea of ‘Man Making and Nation Building’ into action, right from its beginning, Akhil Bharatita Vidhyarti Parishad (ABVP) has been endeavouring to mobilise the students from all over the nation to bring about changes in various aspects of national life. ABVP organised Vanvasi students Parliament in Delhi on October 1, 2015. A total fo 233 Vanvasi students from 50 districts. A kin to this, girl students’ parliament and north east youth parliaments were also conducted. Similarly, it also started a campaign against drugs and addiction.
ABVP is not the only organisation which seeks to bring in change through education. On realising the weakness of our education system which inherited directly from the British, many other organisations have been working towards the renaissance of the existing system in tune with Bhartiya culture and heritage.
Vidya Bharati is one of the major organisations working in this direction. It is primarily formulating education policies and philosophies based on our national ideas and socio-cultural values. This year, Vidya Bharati organised a Principals’ conference in New Delhi and exhorted the Principals of its senior secondary schools to act as the catalysts for social change in their vicinity. Apart from it, Vedic Vidyapeetham has been started at Chhipaner village under Timarni tehsil of Harda district in Madhya Pradesh. Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal, another organisation working with a view of awakening patriotism and nationalism in the field of education, as a part of crafting the new education policy, contacted about four lakh people to collect their opinion. The report submitted by the organisation states that about 1.5 lakh people, from vice chancellors to primary school teachers, professionals to farmers and businessmen, provided their opinion in writing. These suggestions were provided to Subramanian Committee on February 4. Besides this, Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh is also working in the field of education which primarily dedicated to inculcating nationalist thinking among the teaching fraternity. Kreeda Bharati is an organisation working for promoting sports culture among the citizens. The main objective of their programmes is promoting sports culture and Bharatiya games.
Globally, the realm of labour movement and trade unionism had been regarded as a monopoly of the communists. It was later proved to be wrong with the inception of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) under the steadfast leadership of Dattopant Thengadiji. With the largest representation of working class all over the country, now BMS has become largest trade union in Bharat. As per their report, many activities are being conducted across the country as part of the golden jubilee celebration.
The co-operative movement in our country should be built up as one of the primary instruments of decentralised and labour intensive economy, which will generate speedy and balanced economic growth. Towards this goal, Sahakar Bharti has been working in 425 districts of the country with 40 subsectors of cooperatives. .
Since Independence, our farmers have always been in peril due to the flawed policies of successive governments ruled our country. Founded by Shri Dattopantji Thengdi, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) is an organisation of the farmers of Bharat aiming at the holistic development of the Farmers of the country. The Bharat’s biggest farmers’ organisation, BKS, has been fighting for the cause of farmers.
The concept of Swadeshi is as old as the beginning of the national movement. Followed by a massive campaign for Swadeshi in 1980s, Swadeshi Jagaran Manch (SJM) came into existence. Last year, number of farmer associations and citizen groups led by the SJM protested against the the commercial release of GM mustard. Over 8,000 citizens from across the country have also signed a petition against this move. Wide spread awareness campaign against land acquisition and GM crops were the
important movements led by the organisation last year.
Laghu Udyog Bharti is an organisation which is dedicated for the cause of development of small-medium scale industries of Bharat. They consider the upliftment of small scale industries as the base of upliftment of the nation and its development. They stand for labour laws and environmental laws for SSIs..
Deendayal Research Institute (DRI) is literally a brain child of great visionary and social worker Shri Nanaji Deshmukh. Conceiving “Integral Humanism” as its philosophy, the institute is working on models for development such as providing services for health, hygiene, basic education, training for self employment etc. The DRI recently presented a white paper to Government of Bharat on Khadi sector. An exhibition and documentary on the life and work of Deendayal Upadhyaya was screened at Nehru Memorial. The Government of Bharat has made DRI a knowledge partner for celebration of the birth centenary of Deendayalji.
Sanskar Bharati, Bharat’s prominent cultural organisation. Today, 20,000 artists are associated with the organisation. A national workshop was organised in Gwalior along with Raja Mansingh Tomar.
Under the umbrella of Rashtriya Sewa Bharati, myriads service activities are taking place at the national level. Sewa Sangam are organised by Sewa Bharati in various states. Akhil Bharatiya Sewa Sangam was organised at Delhi from 3 to 5 April 2015. The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of Pujya Mata Amrutanandmayi. Under Sewa Bharati, the Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation, a non-profit organisation, working in education and village development in rural areas and tribal villages of Bharat. It is the largest grassroots, non-government education initiative in Bharat with presence in 51,717 villages providing free education to more than one million children.
Another organisation working towards the same cause is Saksham which was established with the sole purpose of empowering persons with blindness. In a major initiative, the Saksham has resolved to make Bharat corneal blindness free within three years. The campaign was formally started in Delhi on March 5 on the birth anniversary of RSS second Sarsanghachalak Shri Guruji. Before launching the project, Saksham conducted a pilot study in five districts.
A service-cum-sanskar oriented, non-political, socio-cultural voluntary organisation, Bharat Vikas Parishad has work in 314 districts and it has provided 2.37 lakh artificial limbs to handicapped so far. It is dedicated to the development and growth of our country in all fields of human endeavour – cultural, social, academic,
moral, national and spiritual- by promoting a sense of patriotism, national unity and integrity.
Founded in 2002, Arogya Bharati is striving to achieve a healthy, happy society by the coordinate efforts of individuals, society and the government. Having regard and appreciation for different systems of medicine, it is engaged in coordinating and organising them to build a healthy nation. On establishing the Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram (VKA), its main objective was to eliminate the chasm between Hindu community and their Vanvasi brethren with affection and good faith. Analysing the past years of their contribution, they have won to achieve that objective to a great extent. The VKA has conducted many events and programmes nationwide. Of all, a three-day meeting was held in Guwahati from August 7 to 9, 2015. The meeting deserves a special attention as it was to discuss the Vision Document for the Scheduled Tribes of North East Bharat.
Akhil Bharatiya Seema Jagran, a prominent organisation working in border and coastline areas. In annual report to the ABPS, it said, self-help groups have been started among fishermen in Kerala, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.
As rightly observed by H V Seshadri, former Sar Karyavah of RSS, “the plan envisaged by the Sangh for transforming its vision into a reality has been tested and found to be singularly effective. Swayamsevaks— moulded as instruments of that transformation—have by and large proved successful in whatever field they have entered. In this scheme of all-round national regeneration, there is no place for a totalitarian setup; the Sangh does not seek to play the role of a central authority controlling and directing the activities of those various fields.” Now, the Sangh has touched the hearts of the people belonging to various sections of the society and is continuing its great journey further to take our nation to the pinnacle of glory.
