Intro: Considering the exceptional situation prevailing in the State where the minorities have outnumbered the Hindus, will the Government grant minority status to Hindus in Kerala?

The sensitive demography of Kerala has always been the centre of debate for the last many decades. But now it has taken a drastic turn as the new revelations regarding the census report 2011 touched a chord throughout the State. According to the 2001 census report, the Hindu population of Kerala was 56.2 per cent. In the span of barely 10 years, it has dramatically declined to mere 48 per cent! As per the census 2001, Muslims constituted 26.7 per cent of the total population. According to the sources, Muslims now constitute 32 per cent of Kerala’s total population. Besides that, the huge presence of Bangladeshi Muslims in the State, especially in the North Kerala, also triggers panic among the people. The BJP State President, V Muralidharan has recently alleged that the CPI (M) and the Congress Party are trying to enroll the illegal migrants in the voters list.
The projected 48 per cent itself should be considered as an overstated figure as the ground reality is most awful than that of the official documents. A sizable population exists as Hindus only in the Government records as they camouflage their real identity to enjoy the reservation benefits provided by the constitution.
The successive Governments have been abusing the State machinery to cater illegitimate needs of the minority. Even as the debate is heating up, the present Congress Government too does not seem to take cognisant of the census report. The secularist saga of Kerala has always been at the expense of Hindus for which the Hindus had to pay a big price. If a Communist Party State Secretary, Kanam Rajendran, went so far as to confess about it, how catastrophic  the reality is. While the birth rates of other districts are showing a sharp decline, Kerala’s only Muslim majority district, Malappuram, has hit a new record by registering the highest rate of birth in the State. The Christian evangelists are also counterbalancing their population by converting Hindus into Christianity. The media and major political parties are blatantly rooting for these anti-national activities.
There has always been an orchestrated attempt to grab the opportunities of the Hindus in the realm of education, politics, civil service etc. In the Congress Party, all the key posts are reserved for the minorities, especially for Christians. In contrast with the other two communities, the Hindu’s share on land holing and bank deposit is alarmingly poor. The people belonging to the minority communities are using Gulf-NRI affluence and counterfeit currencies to accumulate land and other assets in the hearts of the State.
More than 80 per cent of educational institutions in the private sector are run by the minorities. The health and higher educational sectors are also under their sole control. The minority educational institutions do not recruit Hindu candidates because all the vacancies are supposed to be filled by the candidates from their own communities. The question still remains that why the ire of Hindus cannot be cashed in by BJP.
As the new information came into the light, this is considered as the last nail hammered into the coffin of the Communist Party as its very existence entirely based on the Hindu vote-bank. In other words, both communist parties together form the largest Hindu party in Kerala. This is the reason why the CPI State Secretery Kanam Rajendran expressed his concern over the decreasing Hindu population of the State. Even in the future, the Congress is likely to survive with a strong backing of the rich and perennial minority vote-bank. The Muslim League has a sway over the Muslim majority in Malappuram district. They are also perpetrating the creation of a new district for Muslims adjacent to Malappuram.
After recognising the perils of the latest developments and the possible annihilation of Hindu society, the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam (SNDP) a prominent caste organisation, has decided to join hands with the BJP in the forthcoming elections and to facilitate the Hindu unity that may change the whole political equations of Kerala.
If the current situation persists, Muslims will become the majority in Kerala within  a short span of time. If so, the Hindus in Kerala will meet the fate of Kashmiri pundits. Kerala is no longer God’s own country as the non-Hindu culture rapidly dominates over the domain of  culture art and literature. The looming question is whether it will become Jehovah’s own country or Allah’s own country.              —Ganesh Krishnan R
