Book Review : Ramayana: Practical Wisdom for Humans

Intro: The Ramayana, universal treasure of knowledge for all mankind and a gift of India to the whole world.
Raja Dr John Konhaus, Professor of Vedic Science, Maharshi University of Management, USA and Chairman, Maharshi Vedic Organic Agriculture Institute, USA and India in his profound foreword emphasises: The Ramayana is truly a universal treasure of knowledge for all mankind and a gift of India to the whole world.  Because it contains such practical wisdom, it is very important that each new generation deeply experience and understands the knowledge of the Ramayana.”
Shri KK Shanmukhan has made the Ramayana available in an easy to understand format, with practical guidance for the young, so that as children, this ancient wisdom of life will guide their life from a very early age and they will grow up with the story of the Ramayana deep in their hearts.  Shri Shanmukhan has done a great service to the educational system of India and the educational systems throughout the world by providing this text. I Therefore uphold this work as a beacon for character formation, right attitude, fortitude and virtuous qualities in human life.
All human problems and suffering are caused by lack of proper spiritual knowledge and this lack comes from a lack of a proper system of education. This vacuum can be and should be filled by incorporating such quality teachings from the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, etc.  My hope is that texts like The Ramayana for Life Skill may add value to our educational lineage and improve the overall qualities of human life.  This book is composed in a simple and beautiful style that makes reading a pleasure.”

Intro: All religions are ‘interconnected’. No religion has emanated and developed in isolation from other existing traditions.

Who is the God of All, irrespective of religion, race nationality, language, cultural differences? We ‘feel’ that somehow all religions are ‘interconnected’. No religion has emanated and developed in isolation from other existing traditions. All new religions have borrowed many aspects from earlier existing traditions. Also we know intuitively that no spiritual master ever appeared with the intention to ‘start’ a new’ religion’ and create divisions in the world ,but to only show the path of Truth to struggling humanity of those times. Remove the man made labels – Hindu, Muslim, Christian etc. And we have actually only one Eternal Dharma which exists, showing different paths to that ONE –Lord Almighty – nameless/formless infinite power. Swami Vivekananda articulated the same principle during his participation in the World Parliament of Religions held at Chicago in 1893.
The book Jesus Lived in India is a publication of the British Publishing Company Penguin Books. It is written by Holger Kersten a German theologian after extensive research including of the Bible itself which supports his research. The reader must remember that the book is a non-fiction and a research paper on the subject. The story starts from the Buddhist Hemis Monastery in Ladhak (J&K). Then it takes us through the Gospels. It is followed by the story of Moses. Then we are taken through the childhood of Jesus. We have very interesting chapters-‘The Secret of Jesus’, ‘The Shroud: A Legacy of Jesus’, ’Death and Resurrection’, ‘After the Crucifixion’. The links of Christianity with Buddha Dharma is covered in great detail. The book has sold millions of copies in the western world and is a must read for every person who is interested in Jesus and his life. The book is available on Flipkart.com and also at reputed book stores.                –Kiran Kumar
