Protesting against the alleged corruption in governance by the United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala, BJP’s karyakartas alongwith National President Amit Shah sieged Kerela Secretariat. This proved that BJP is the real Opposition Party in the State where ruling Congress-led United Democratic Front and CPM-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) are playing hide and seek and always resort to mutual “adjustments”. Even though LDF had declared several agitations against UDF rule highlighting several scams like Solar, Bar Bribe, etc. they appeared to be shying off from the field after a while. But, BJP’s siege turned a strong warning to the State government.
BJP’s Secretariat siege was started on May 18, 2015. They picketed all the gates leading to the nerve centre of the State administration. Senior leaders O Rajagopal, V Muraleedharan, PK Krishnadas, MT Ramesh, Shobha Surendran, etc. led the agitation. The party cadres slept on the street despite summer showers which paralysed different parts of the capital city. On May 19, the second day, the agitation got a fillip by the presence of party chief Amit Shah. Shah came to the arena of agitation and addressed the workers and leaders.
Amit Shah, in his speech, stated that Kerala Government is celebrating the 4th anniversary of corruption. Congress had been ruling the country for 62 years. Now, that chapter is over. Kerala undergoes a similar phenomenon. People want a Congress-free, Left-free Kerala. Since the State is heading towards elections the people of Kerala have to throw Congress away from the power. Kerala Government is plunged in nose-deep corruption, just like the erstwhile UPA rule. UDF government is in the shade of several scams. BJP is trying to make Kerala a Congress-free State just like it did at the Centre.
He requested the 20 lakh strong BJP voters and the general public to bring BJP into the helm of the affairs in the State. BJP would find solutions to the problems being faced by the State. BJP Government stands for the poor. If Keralities want development and employment for its youth they should vote for BJP to power as they did at the Centre.
Amit Shah mentioned that lot of violence takes place against BJP in Kerala. But, he reminded all concerned that no violence can deter BJP from the mainstream. Seventy six corruption scams were initiated during the UPA government. The amount involved is Rs 12 lakh crore. But Opposition has failed to raise a single scam against Modi government during the last one year of power. Shah added that PM Narendra Modi is getting mammoth receptions in abroad also.
Later on Amit Shah attended the BJP state core committee meeting. Union minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy and A Raja also attended the meeting. Rudy is the central leader-in-charge of Kerala BJP. Meeting is expected to plan the strategies for the ensuing local bodies inspection.              —T Satisan, Kerala
