News Round-up: Three-day Karyakarta Shivir in Karnavati
Gujarat unit of the RSS organised a three-day Karyakarta Shivir in Kathwada area of Ahmedabad. The Shivir was inaugurated by the RSS Sahsarkaryavah Shri Suresh Soni on January 2. Around 25,000 swayamsevaks attended the Shivir.
Speaking at the concluding ceremony on January 4 Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat stressed the need for unity among Hindus. “In India, if the Hindu society gets weak, the entire country would get weak. The country being a Hindu nation it is the responsibility of Hindus to protect it,” he said. He said equal respect has to be accorded to all in the society. If all Hindus get united, there is no power that can stop the country from progressing. He further said that the Sangh is an organisation for nation-building and infusing nationalist spirit among the people. “The Sangh has embarked upon this holy task and we will continue till it is complete,” he said.
Earlier inaugurating the Shivir, Shri Suresh Soni said the Indian culture have solutions for all the major global problems. India have a system that can deal with challenges such as global terrorism, global recession and global warming.
The belief that “my God is best and my ways are the best” gives birth to intolerance, which leads to harassment of not only those from other religions but even to the co-religionists, he said, citing the example of civil war in Iraq and Syria. India can help the world deal with terrorism with its philosophy and attitude. The Indian culture of austerity can be a solution to global economic problems. Similarly, our culture which treats Earth as the Mother can become the solution to the global warming, he added.
RSS swayamsevaks on January 1 cleaned the premises of historically reputed bus stand at Gokarna in Karnataka as a part of the ‘Swaccha Bharat Abhiyan’. Gokarna is one of most reputed temple town of Karnataka, where thousands of visitors arrive by buses. The sewa work by the swayamsevaks received applause by the local people.
Gokarna is a small temple town located on the western coast of India in North Kannada district. Gokarna means ‘Cow’s Ear’. It is believed that Lord Shiva emerged from the ear of a cow (Prithvi, the Mother Earth) here. Main temple and deity is Lord Shiva, who is also known as Mahabhaleshwara. This temple houses what is believed to be original image of Lord Shiva’s lingam. There are many other temples all over this small town. Gokarna is historically known as one of the seven important Hindu pilgrimage centers and is located on what was once unspoiled beach near the estuary of River Aghanashini with its palm trees and other colourful tropical fruits and flower trees.

Sangh Sanghik at Mysuru
A Sangh Sanghik, congruence of RSS swayamsevaks, was held at JK Grounds Mysuru city in Karnataka on January 4. More than 1,600 uniformed swayamsevaks attended the Sanghik. RSS Sahsarakaryavah Shri Dattatreya Hosabale addressed the gathering. Prant Sanghachalak Shri M Venkata-ramu and Vibhag Sanghachalak Dr Vaman Rao Bapat also shared the dais. Protest against PK
The protest against Amir Khan’s ‘PK’ movie continued for second week also across the country. After the VHP and Bajrang Dal, Durga Vahini and many other organisations also joined the protest and termed the movie an attempt to disturb the communal harmony of the country. The people have reacted strongly against UP and Bihar’s governments’ decision to make the controversial movie tax-free. Addressing the protestors in Delhi Durga Vahini State convener Smt Sanjana Chaudhary said the movie is an attempt to glorify Pak sponsored terrorism and love jihad. She appealed to the Union Home Ministry to take immediate cognisance of the entire plot. —Bureau Report
First year winter camp for college students in Delhi
The first year winter training camp for college students was organised in Delhi from December 14 to January 3. A total of 84 college students underwent training. Kshetra Pracharak Shri Rameshwarji, Akhil Bharatiya Sah Sampark Pramukh Shri Arun Kumar, Shri Kashmirilal of Swadeshi Jagran Manch and many others senior Sangh leaders guided the workers.
Speaking at the concluding ceremony on January 3, RSS Uttar Kshetra Sanghachalak Dr Bajranglal Gupt said the prime objective of the Sangh is to make Bharat a self-reliant, prosperous, self-respected, powerful and morally high nation.
On this occasion Dr Ajay Dewan, Director of Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Hospital said the moral education imparted at the camp was the medicine needed to cure various social diseases. Vargadhikari Shri Ravi-shekhar, Delhi Parnt Sanghachalak Shri Kulbhushan Ahuja were also present.

Sanskrit is a Mobile Yoga Centre —Dr CK Saluja
In order to bring Sanskrit speaking people together at district level and also to popularise Sanskrit among youth, Sanskrit Bharati is organising Sanskrit Sammelans at district levels across the country. One such Sammelan was organised in Kota on January 4. Addressing the gathering Dr CK, national president of Samskrit Bharati, said grammar, language, literature or pronunciation are not the problem with Sanskrit, rather the real problem is that people who understand the language are not there. All these challenges were earlier also, are today and will be tomorrow too. Sanskrit is the language which played a key role in coining words of various other languages, he said.

Applauding the initiative of International Yoga Day, Dr Saluja said Sanskrit is the mobile yoga centre if we think about pronunciation of words in the language. Presiding over the Sammelan noted Hindi literary person Shri Ambika Datt Chaturvedi stressed the need to propagate Sanskrit, as it is the most scientific language. Mayor of Kota Shri Mahesh Vijay stressed the make Sanskrit a ‘Janvani’ (language of the masses) from ‘Devvani’ (language of the Gods).
A similar Sammelan was organised in Ajmer on November 30 in which over a thousand people participated. Education Minister of Rajasthan Shri Vasudev Devonani and national general secretary of Sanskrit Bharati Shri Nand Kumar were also present on the occasion. According to Shri Devendra Pandaya, Prant organising secretary of Samskrit Bharati, six more Sammelans are to be organised in Chittor Prant in coming days. —Bureau Report
