CPM Lost Security Deposits?
Intro:BJP has stormed its entry into the West Bengal Assembly by defeating Trinamool Congress, Congress and CPM. For the first time BJP has won the Assembly seats by fighting on its own. Though, TMC had deployed 30 state ministers with specific agenda against BJP on communal lines, bagful of cash & kind but nothing worked.?
BJP has emerged as the main opposition party after the recent by-elections on two assembly seats – Chowringhee and Basirhat (South) in West Bengal, not by members in the Assembly, but by virtue of its remarkable growth as a political power in the State. In this election, BJP has compelled the Congress and the Communist Party of India—Marxists (CPM) to take the 3th and the 4th position in the result sheet. Not only that, is so miserable the conditions, that both the candidates of other parties have lost their security deposits. Can anyone imagine that the candidate of the CPM who has been winning the Basirhat (South) Assembly seat consecutively for the last nine times would be defeated like this? Even the chief minister of the state Mamata, using all her might could not stop or check the advancement of the BJP. When Shamik Bhattacharya, the winning BJP candidate from Basirhat (South) thundered, “I dedicate my victory to the great soul Dr Keshab Baliram Hedgewar.” The rival parties were taken aback. The Times of India, Kolkata edition had published on September 17, “TMC gives saffron No 1 enemy status” in Bengal.

This is for the first time BJP has won the Assembly seat by fighting on its own. In 1998, it had won a seat in by-election—Ashok Nagar constituency, but at that time BJP was in coalition with TMC. The ruling party of the state had tried to put every possible obstacle to stop the BJP’s onslaught. But all went in vain. TMC had deployed 30 state ministers with specific agenda prominent among them was spreading canards against BJP on communal lines, bagful of cash and kind was distributed, but bothing worked.
For TMC this is a danger signal as some of their leaders have rightly pointed out that “so called invincible” party CPM once thought that so long rural Bengal was with them nobody on earth could pull them down. But it so happened that their “Security Deposits” in election was being forfeited for the greed of votes. Three days before the by-election, TMC leader Mukul Roy in an answer to a journalist’s question said that, “What good work has been done by the TMC in the last three months, for which people may think of our party to vote for. At the same time think of BJP, what wrong they have committed during last three months for which people may not think of supporting them.” He said that the answer would be of anybody’s guess. Another pointer in this regard should be pondered last time, when Shikha Mitra contested the seat and won with votes more than 72 thousands, this time the TMC candidate Nayna Bandyopadhyay from same Chowringhee constituency got only 38,328 votes. What explanation they have got for this erosion of more than 30 thousand votes? What is their argument to defend the illogical and inconsiderate support towards the anti-national Muslim terrorists? Under this so strong ‘Hindu Wave’ how they dare to go for Hindu bashing?
How they are going to justify the rampant misrule in the state? Emblem of TMC is “Maa (Mother), Mati (Earth) and Manush (Human)”—still the community of Maa (Mother) is worst sufferer here in Bengal—how they are going to justify them? The TMC has made corruption as an embodiment of the administration and society at large. Can they deny it? In this regard Saradha Scam and its day to day exposures have snatched the soil from under the feet of those incriminated political leaders.
