100 Days of Modi Government

(Organiser,14.9. 2014 ); This refers to the article titled ‘100 Days of Modi Government’ by Debobrat Ghose in Organiser. Not even able to secure enough votes to sit as official Opposition the Congress Party is shamelessly sitting in judgement to assess the performance of hundred days of the BJP which came to power on its own with a thumping majority wiping out the Congress from the political map. What did you do all these ten years Mr. international economic expert Mr. Manmohan Singh and behind the scenes the Sutradharini Sonia who wielded the strings of power? A tottering government and a tattered economy is the legacy Congress gave to the Bharatiyas who wisely voted the party out of power. However the Civil Service the most powerful institution is still under the euphoria of the Congress rule.Have they changed their mind set? Will Narendra Modiji be able to control and straighten them? As Prabhu Chawala says,” Narendra Modiji faces a bigger threat from the Civil Servants than from his political opponents.”

Don’t Alter the Spiritual Sanctity

(Organiser, 27.7.2014); This refers to the article titled ‘Don’t Alter the Spiritual Sanctity’ by Bharat Lal Seth in the ‘Bookmark’ page of Organiser. In these days of modern world water is as much important in making hydel-power as utilising it for drinking, water-ways, irrigation and maintaining spiritual sanctity. But the need of the hour is that if we have to survive in this world without disturbing and causing irreparable damage to anything, we have to regulate and strike a balance between development and environment sensibly.

Need to enthuse BJP cadre again

It does not require a Nelson’s eye to see the dwindling of enthusiasm in BJP’s cadre from what it was before the elections, which brought BJP to power with such numbers via Modi. May it be that it is a case of usual fatigue after the hard work, which will go away shortly. In any case the enthusiasm has to be revamped so that the general public is kept aware of the good work that is being done by the government, especially under the special circumstances in which BJP is placed.
Unfortunately due to a particular type of atmosphere created in the country for the last 65 years or so, BJP in general and Modi in particular don’t have the luxury of a friendly media, especially of English variety, barring a few exceptions. It is for this reason that no other government in our present memory has been put to such a rigorous scanner as Modi government has been, right from the first month of its existence and motives have been attributed to every move made by Modi. Under the circumstances, it becomes absolutely necessary that the cadre is suitably enthused and employed to keep the general public informed about the ground work being done by the government, which would lead to good results in future especially in areas like good governance, better living conditions, alleviation of poverty and corruption less society.

The so-called secular lobby

The CM of J&K wants the dialogue, and not armed conflict, to continue between India & Pakistan to solve the 68 years old vexatious issue of Jammu & Kashmir. Not long ago, the very gentleman had reportedly advocated that Pakistani currency should be permitted as a legal tender in J&K. And, as expected, the so– called secular lobby did not utter a single word over this highly objectionable demand. In another instance, the head of the state of a neighbouring Islamic country, while on an official visit to India, had the temerity to say that in the event of a future Indo-Pak war, his country would side with Pakistan. For obvious reasons, on both these occasions, there was no reaction from the Government as it was then under the rule of the so- called secular UPA II alliance.
