CPM Criminals Enjoy IT, Drugs and Alcohol in Jail?
Alongwith the 12 accused, three leaders of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI (M)] were convicted, in connection with the murder of Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leader T.P. Chandrasekharan at Onchiyam on May 4, 2012. But the convicts as reported are enjoying luxuries in the jail. The news of several CPM criminals, jailed in connection with Chandrasekharan murder, enjoying Facebook and cellular phone while in Kannur jail hit the headlines in Kerala few months before. After much talked about dramas of enquiry all the CPM suspects and convicts were transferred to different jails.
But it has been recently reported that the Chandrasekharan murder convict Mohammed Shafi and some police men were caught red handed while they were buying liquor from a wine shop in Mahey near Thalassery, Kannur district.
Some passerby informed the police control room when they saw the police vehicle near the wine shop. It was alleged that the policemen bought the liquor.
Five policemen were suspended when the incident turned talk of the town even before there were allegations that TP case suspects used liquor and other drugs in the jail.
Then comes the story of tracing mobile SIM cards from underneath the bed of RMP leader murder convict Sijith, in Viyyoor central jail, in Thrissur district. After the news spread, police interrogated Sijith. During the quiz he disclosed that he had spoken to local leaders of CPM, suspects, lawyers, relatives, etc. It is reported that police interrogation in this regard would continue.
As the incident come into light, Keralites once again are bound to believe that Congress and CPM are hand-in-glove in adopting soft policies to enjoy mutual benefits.
