Brand Merchandising
Merchandising refers to the variety of products available for sale and the display of those products in such a way that it stimulates interest and entices customers to make a purchase. Brand Merchandising is the ability to take a company logo or “brand” and effectively place it on products that are purchased or used by consumers. Brand Merchandising is a form of general awareness and more successful companies utilise it.
Interest & Capability
Creativity is the key skill coupled with above-average ability for artistic expression. Technical and design expertise (e.g. building stet, props, setting up proper lighting, etc) are helpful besides the knowledge of fashion and art/design industry trends and forecasts along with the ability to work well with others.

Role of Merchandiser
Merchandiser is the one that plans, design and make merchandising process works.
Eligibility Criteria
There are many certificates and diploma programmes being provided by different institutes. Various institutes, all over India, offer diploma courses in visual merchandising.
Many institutes conduct an aptitude test and interviews for merchandising courses. Even crash courses are being offered for the working students and professionals.
A student can be from any field or any background. One can enroll after 10+2 for different diploma programmes.
Salary Package
Due to globalisation, merchandising has become a very lucrative career option. Depending on your qualification and experience, one can expect to be paid well.
As a trainee, one can start with a salary of Rs10000-Rs15000. Generally MNCs and private companies pay higher.

Tattoo Designing/ Artist

The job of a tattoo designer
(also known as a tattoo artist) is to design and create a lifelike image to  be permanently tattooed on a client's body.
Becoming a tattoo designer is not something you wake up one morning and decide to do. It is also not a career for people who want to be lazy, or who believe looks and manners do not matter. You can succeed in the tattoo industry, but you will need to be talented, self-driven, and always dedicated.

Salary Package

Salary varies with location  and experience but it starts with a handsome package of Rs 20,000-30,000 per month.

Eligibility Criteria

A student can be from any field or any background. One can enroll after 10+2 to the different diploma programmes. He/She must possess artistic skills.

Merchant Navy

Merchant Navy is a great career option after 12th for the young generation. It is perfect for those who love travelling, adventure, interested in seeing new places and meeting new people. In this profession one will get the opportunity to travel around the world and that too free of cost.
Merchant Navy can be described as commercial fleet of non-combatant ships which deals with transportation of passengers, cargo and lots of other things by sea that may not possible to dispatch either by road, rail and air, between all the countries.
Merchant Navy fleet may include passenger ships, tanker ships, cargo ships, bulk carriers, refrigerator ships, container ships, barge carrying ships including roll on and off ships. With growing economic and fastest developing country India have a largest merchant shipping fleets and have a variety of jobs in Indian as well as foreign vessels.
Eligibility Criteria
Merchant Navy can be joined after 10th as seafarer after qualifying pre sea courses or after 12th as an officer through various degree or diploma courses in mainly two specialized fields, Nautical (Deck) and Marine engineering. Unmarried female and male candidate are eligible.
Age Limit: 16-25 Years
Medical Standards: Candidates should be physically and mentally strong, fit for sea-services under standard norms.
Eye-sight: 6/6 without glasses, no color Blindness. (The candidate has to undergo medical examination).
How to join Merchant Navy?
There are various courses to join after 10th or 12th in both private and government training institute recognised and approved by Director General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping.
Pre-Sea Training – In this course one will get proper training of maintenance of engine as well as deck. It is also known as General Purpose Training(GPR) and one can join this course after 10th with minimum aggregate percentage of 40% with Mathematics, Science and English as compulsory subject and should have 40% marks in each of them. The time duration of this course is 6 months and, age limit for joining this course is 17 to 25 years.
Deck Cadet – It is a diploma in Nautical Science. The minimum education qualification for this course is 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) as compulsory subjects and one should have scored minimum 50% in aggregate and 50% in English at 12th level.


Merchant Navy Entrance Exam

The All India Merchant Navy Entrance Test (AIMNET) is conducted by Bharat Shipping Limited usually in the month of November-December every year for following courses:

 

  • B Tech in Naval Architecture & Ship Building (4 years)
  • B Tech in Marine Engineering (4 years)
  • B Sc in Nautical Science (3 years)
  • Pre-Sea Training GP Ratings
  • MBA Shipping & Logistics
  • Master Foreign Going Certificate of Competency
  • First Class Motor or Combined (Chief Engineer) Certificate of Competency issued by the Directorate General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping, Government of India or its counterparts in other countries.

 

 

STCW Course – This is basically a safety course which is compulsory for every seaman. This consists of four basic course i.e. EFA (Elementary First Aid), FPFF (Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting), PST (Provisional Survival Techniques) and PSSR (Personal Safety & Social responsibility). The duration of the course is 15 days. Other certificate, diploma and degrees that enable you to join Merchant Navy are:

  • Pre-sea Training for personnel, man Dredgers, Tugs, OSVs, etc on NCV (DECK)
  • Pre-sea Training for personnel, man Dredgers, Tugs, OSVs, etc on NCV (ENGINE)
  • 1 year Pre-Sea Diploma in Nautical Science. It is equivalent to first year in B Sc Nautical Science affiliated to Indian Maritime University and approved by Deputy General of Shipping (Govt. of India) and after this you can get admission in II year B Sc directly.
  • Higher National Diploma (HND) Nautical Science
  • Higher National Diploma (HND) Marine Engineering
  • BE Marine Engineering (4 years)
  • BS in Nautical Technology (3 years at Institute + 1 year at Sea)
  • B Sc Degree in Nautical Science (3 years)
  • Marine Engineering (2 years)
  • Graduate Marine Engineer (GME) (1 year)
