“Vote for India 272” was another important initiative that gave impetus to the BJP’s campaign. A group which was an outcome of discussing politics and development on social media having a network of 10,000 volunteers today. “We used to discuss politics on social networking sites. But after the fractured mandate in Delhi, we decided to create awareness for a stable government,” said Param Mohariya who is a founding member of the group. The 10-member core group has mostly engineers, IIT students and IT professionals. After forming the group, they started studying the work done by governments at the Centre and in the states. This helped them projecting the performance of BJP-led states and failures of the Centre in a better manner. This group also uses social media to connect with urban tech-savvy voters and street plays to reach out to the poor and the lower-middle class. Another highlight of the campaign is that the team is using point-to-point protocol to help volunteers directly talk to prospective voters who are connected to centralised database.
