The strongest weapon that AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal uses anywhere he goes is the portrayal of his ‘simplicity’. But this weapon failed to click the people of Banaras because they already have dozens of simpler politicians than him. “We have the honest and simplest politicians whom Kejriwal can never compete,” said Dilmohan Tewari, an Acharya student of Sampoornananda Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya.Shri Amarnath Yadav who was minister in Uttar Pradesh Government of Kalyan Singh, has no vehicle even today and can be seen walking in the streets of Banaras. Similarly Shri Shankar Prasad Jaiswal has been a BJP MP thrice and also remained Mayor as well as MLA, but he still sells Mobil Oil at his shop. Shri Shyamdev Raichaudhury has been BJP MLA seven times from Dakshini Banaras, but he still uses rickshaw while moving in the city. He does not have even a two wheeler. Shri Harish Srivastava, who was Finance Minister in BJP government, is seen in the city moving on his old scooter. Not only the BJP, in some other parties too Banaras has dedicated leaders. Advocate Rajbali Tiwari was a minister during Janata Party government. He today practices in local court.
