Massive Janajati Adhikar Rally by Kalyan Ashram in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: Odisha unitof Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram organised a massive rally in Bhubaneswar to press for their seven point demandsfor Vanvasis of the State. These demands include right to health, education, communication facilities, natural rights on land, water and forest, right to reservation, right to protection and preservation of tribal faith, culture and tradition, and demand for 26 per cent share in the profit after tax in mining and industrial activities in Vanvasi areas.Named asJanajati Adhikar Rally, itwas organisedto mark the birth centenary celebration ofKalyan Ashram’s founder Balasaheb Deshpande .
Thousands of Vanvasis from various districts throngedto PMG Chowk with traditional dress. FormerChairman of Schedule Tribe Commission Dilip Singh Bhuria was the chief guest.Eminent saint Swami Pranarupananda Saraswati, former Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram werealso present on the occasion.A memorandum was also submitted to Governer after the rally.
Kalyan Ashram vice president Shri Kripa Prasad Singh expressed concern over non-tribal taking away facilities meant for Vanvasis of the State. “The Constitution has provided special status and reservation for Vanvasis. But unfortunately by the help of some corrupt revenue officers,others (non-ST) are taking away the facilities through fraudulent means. So the Vanvasis are beingdeprived of their rights. Thousands of petitions are pending regarding false caste certificate cases for years. No action has been taken against these people. Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram demands immediate step against the false caste certificate holders and the certificate issuing officers,” Shri Kripa Prasad Singh said.
Referring to 26 per cent share in the profit in mining and other industrial activities in tribal area, he said: “Kalyan Ashram demands 26 per cent sharing of profit in mining area which was also approved by the Group of Ministers of Government of India. This has to be implemented to give justice to the people living in the tribal area.”
Kalyan Ashram State president Lachhman Nayak came downheavily on the Government over the failure in providing the basic needs like health, education and communication to the Vanvasis of the State.
Shri Jagdish Prasad Mishra, Dr Lakshmikanta Dash, Shri Laxman Mahipal, Shri Pabitra Kahanr andShri Prakash Betala also addressed the gathering.

Dadhichi Dehdan Samiti function in Delhi
Time to think beyond selfishness—Sadhvi Ritambhara
“There is no better deed than donating the body organs. No religion can call such a holy act as sin. Instead of living for ourselves, we should live for others and it is time to think beyond the selfishness,” said founder of Vatsalya Gram Didi Maa Sadhvi Ritambhara in Delhi on February 2. She was speaking at a function organised by Dadhichi Dehdan Samiti. Didi Maa also declared to donate her body organs after death.
Dr Meena Thakur, who donated the body of her husband after the last year’s event, said: “Don’t curse darkness, light a candle. Whenever, I think that my husband’s body organs have been useful to someone, I feel very proud. She said donation of body organ is the only way to make our soul eternal.” Divya Arya, editor of Jangyan said even after the life ends, we can continue to doing good works. She said Dadhichi Dehdan Samiti is a motivation for her.
Shri Alok Kumar, president of Dadhichi Dehdan Samiti said the only motive of the organisation is to create awareness among the people about body donation. He said in India due to the religious and old conception people don’t like to do such donations but they don’t know that through this process they will give life to somebody.
Shri Harsh Malhotra, general secretary of the Samiti said through the organisation, they have almost helped 1,000 people till date. Last year 74 people came forward to donate their body organs and they hope the number would increase every year. Prof MC Mishra, director of AIIMS, spoke about the benefits of body organs donation.
The Samiti is working for the cause of body donation for humanity in Delhi/ NCR for 24 years and till date it has provided 82 bodies to the Anatomy Departments of Government Medical Colleges in Delhi for research. The Samiti has also helped with donation of eyes to 338 persons and bones to one person for transplantation. Dr Vijay Anand Gupta and Dr Nityanand Agasthi were also present on the occasion.

Sowmya Hegade, a swayamsevak’s daughter receives National Award from PM
Soumya Hegade, daughter of a swayamsevak, on January 28 received National Award for best NCC cadet from Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Sing at an official function held in New Delhi. Soumya is daughter of RSS Karnataka Dakshin Prant Sah Vyavastha Pramukh Shri Ganapati Hegade. Her Mother Bhageerathi Hegade and sister Sindhu Hegade encouraged Soumya’s skills and interest in NCC. RSS Sahsarkaryavah Shri Dattatreya Hosabale, Akhil Bharatiya Bouddhik Pramukh Shri Bhagayya, Karnataka Dakshin Prant Karyavah Shri N Tippeswamy and several other senior functionaries congratulated Soumya on receiving the Award.
Largest solar cooking session
As many as 3,484 children from over 80 schools participated in the largest solar cooking initiative, Suryakumbh, at Uttan Village near Bhayander in Mumbai on January 4. The event has qualified as an entry to the Guinness Book of World Records.The emergence of renewable sources of energy as an answer to the imminent exhaustion of conventional energy sources pushed Keshav Srushti to start with the most influential members of society, children. “We provided each child with his own solar cooker to assemble and, later, take home to share the knowledge with his family and friends. This activity will help them understand the importance of solar energy and also how it works,” said Shri Satish Sinnarkar, vice-president of Keshav Srushti. He claims they got more applications than the number they had allotted for the activity. The earlier record was set last year at Jalna in Maharashtra, where 2,200 students took part in a solar cooking session. The children were amazed by the construction and working of these solar cookers and were surprisingly well informed.
New team of J&K ABVP
J&K Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad’s 49State conference was held on January 29 at Geeta Bhawan, Jammu. The State executive for the year 2014 was also constituted at the confernece. Dr Verinder Kaoundal was re-elected State president and Shri Raghav Sharma was re-elected as State secretary. Praveen Singh, Rahul Dev Sharma, Maan Singh and Pawan Sharma were declared State vice presidents. Balbir Singh, Suman Magotra and Sushant Gupta were given the responsibility of State joint secretaries. Joginder Kumar was designated as State treasurer and Arjun Menfi as State office secretary. While Shri Pawan Sharma will continue to be as State organising secretary. ABVP National president Shri P Murli Manohar was the chief guest and former revenue officer of Jammu Shri Pawan Kohli presided over the conference. During the conference two resolutions on present educational scenario and present scenario of the State were also passed.
WOSY’s 4th international conference on February 8
The 4th international conference of World Organisation of Students & Youth(WOSY)is being organised at ‘Nelson Mandela Gram’, (boxing stadium), in Pune from Februray 8-9. The conference, will be inaugurated by Padmashree Dr Vijay Bhatkar who is also an eminent IT leader of India and the father of ‘Param’ Super Computer. The keynote speech will be delivered by Dr Rashmi Singh, chairperson of WOSY.
Padmabhushan Dr SB Mujumdar, founder president of Symbiosis International University, would be the chief guest at the valedictory session on February 9. The theme of the conference is’Youth Dialogues Universal Development’. Around 650 delegates representing 65 countries are expected to attend the conference. Parallel sessions on different aspects of development are planned. One of the major highlights of the conference is thecultural performancesfrom around 16 countries showcasing the art forms of those countries on February 8.
