“Education in India has been commercialised due to which our children have started running after career, but not for any social and national obligation,” he said at the Sangam held to celebrate Swami Vivekananda’s 150th birth anniversary. He said, “English education is not for fulfilling our personal needs, rather it should be used for the greater interest of our nation which Swamiji did.” He said there is an urgent need for everyone to come forward to build a ‘cultured’ nation in the real sense which was the dream of Swami Vivekananda. “Swamiji had said that he had ultimate faith upon the young and the modern generation. Our nation is plagued with a number of problems due to the misdeeds of a section of the society,” he added.
He further said a nation’s development depends on spirituality and studies of its culture and heritage. “Our nation is plagued with a number of problems because of the evil and misdeeds of a section of society,” he added. Referring to the unmatched contribution of Lakshminath Bezbaroa towards building a greater Assamese society, he said when a nation falls great saints like Swami Vivekananda, Lakshminath Bezbaroa and Shankardev are born with a vision to rescue.
Chief guest Shri Amarjyoti Choudhury, the pro vice-chancellor of Tezpur University, said Vivekananda wanted to build a new India. He was an ascetic of modern India. Food and shelter for all, honour to every religion and equality between everyone were Swamiji’s priorities. He urged the new generation to create a classless society with Swami Vivekananda’s ideology.
Birth centenary celebration of Balasaheb Deshpande
Kalyan Ashram vice president Shri Kripa Prasad Singh, noted businessman Shri Krishan Kumar Goel, Shri Fatehchandra Ranka, national award winner Smt Thamatai Pawar, Balasaheb Deshpande’s daughter Shobha Ghate, Kalyan Ashram State president Dr Mali and dignitaries like Dr Ramesh Kawadia, Shri Khichare, Shri Bapu Ghatpande and Shri Pandurang Bhandkar were also present on the occasion.
Shri Dattatreya further said that on the invitation of Deshpandeji, Rani Maa Gaidinlu attended the Kalyan Ashram’s first Akhil Bharatiya Mahila Sammelan in Bhilai as chief guest. She was so much impressed with the Kalyan Ashram’s work that she became a part and parcel of it. She then helped in starting the Kalyan Ashram work in the remote areas of Mizoram, Meghalaya, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Andaman Nicobar islands.
Shri Kripa Prasad Singh called upon the workers to expand the work in all 374 districts of the country. He appealed to the young graduates, post graduates, doctors and engineers to donate time for the cause. He said Kalyan Ashram runs a total of 16,221 projects across the country. He pointed out that the Kalyan Ashram activists planted 14,97,600 saplings from June 15 to September 15, 2013 and the pictures and message of Swami Viveknanda were taken to 42 lakh house.
The birth centenary of Kalyan Ashram founder Balasaheb Deshpande was held at Satna Stadium also. Noted saint Mahamandaleshwar Swami Akhileshwara-nanda was the chief guest. Tribal Welfare Minister in Government of Madhya Pradesh Shri Gyan Singh Gond, vice president of Kalyan Ashram Shri Kripa Prasad Singh, Prant Sanghachalak Shri Shankar Prasad and Swami Manglanandaji from Prayag were also present on the occasion. Swami Akhileshwarananda described Balasaheb Deshpande as a visionary, thinker and ideologue who bridged the gap between the Vanvasis and the rest of the society. Shri Gyan Singh Gaur applauded the Kalyan Ashram work.

Republic Day celebration was organised at the RSS Chennai Prant Karyalaya on January 26. Shri Jeyamani, Prant Pramukh of Arogya Bharati, hoisted the national flag and addressed the gathering. The flag was also hoisted at on-going Prant Shivir premises at Avaraikulam. The Flag was hoisted by Shri S Ramakrishnan, Zilla Sanghachalak, Thoothukudi. The RSS celebrated 117th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose by conducting a Pathsanchalan in Siliguri, West Bengal, on January 23. During the Pathsanchalan, the swayamsevaks paid their heart-warming tribute to the national hero who dedicated himself to the motherland. On behalf of the swayamsevaks, Vibhag Sahsanghachalak Shri Kulchatraprasad Agarwal garlanded Netaji statue at Netaji Crossing. He was accompanied by Uttarbang Prant Pracharak Shri Gobinda Ghosh, Sah Prant Pracharak Shri Jaladhar Mahato and other many other senior karyakartas.
Shri Jaladhar Mahato addressed the swayamsevaks before the pathsanchalan began from Baghajatin Park. A colourful tableau with the portraits of Netaji, Bharatmata and RSS founder Dr Hedgewar attracted the people. BJP leader Shri Panchanan Raut, in charge of West Bengal, Sikkim and entire North-East region attended the march along with other party workers.
In the second phase of its ‘commitment to wide-spread the importance of right to vote among youngsters’, the ABVP and Youth Against Corruption (YAC) will jointly start a pan-India Young Voter Awareness Campaign from February 10th to 20th 2014. They will call on the youngsters to give a fitting reply to the Central Government for its ten years of cruel mockery of people by choosing good-governance instead of anarchy and keeping intact the nation’s integrity, appeals to choose representatives committed to development – keeping national perspective in mind.
ABVP general secretary Shreehari Borikar and national co-convener of YAC Shri N Ravi Kumar in a joint press statement said the campaign is still on throughout the country and is progressing towards the target of one crore. “The campaign is the second step of the same campaign where activists of ABVP & YAC will reach out to the colleges and localities in all cities and towns spread over 30 states and 5 union territories of the county, publicising with brochures, posters, banners and stickers of the campaign. It will reach out to the youth by holding personal contact (one-to-one) and will appeal youth to keep in mind the all India perspective while voting,” the statement said. ABVP-YAC will educate youngsters to judiciously choose Government with capability to provide good governance instead of corruption laden present UPA Government which failed on national security, was incapable to check the inflation and a failure on areas of education, employment and foreign policy. A six day Ghosh training camp by the RSS Uttarakhand was organised at Almora from January 18 to 23. A total of 225 swayamsevaks underwent training at the camp. Many senior Sangh leaders including Kshetra Sharirik Pramukh Shri Ranvir Singh, Prant Pracharak Dr Harish, Prant Karyavah Shri Lakshmi Prasad Jaiswal and Vibhag Sanghachalak Shri Bhim Singh guided the shiksharthis. Kshetra Pracharak Shri Shivprakas addressed the swayamsevaks at the concluding ceremony. He not only told the swayamsevaks to work together but also highlighted the threat to the national security.
