DELHI’S voting pattern in the last four elections show that BJP and Congress both have strong vote base nurtured with the organisational structures across Delhi. Winning or losing both these national parties manages to hold on 35 per cent of vote share. Another important fact this table reveals is no one can form government in Delhi without getting minimum 40 per cent vote share. BSP is the only party which has been consistently increasing it’s vote share in Delhi. Even after getting 14 per cent votes across Delhi, BSP could convert only two seats into winning. Therefore, AAP’s claim of being spoiler or serious contender in Delhi elections looks media managed. Even after snatching Congress votes in substantial number, AAP cannot change the fact that BJP requires 5 per cent votes to come to power while AAP needs a jump of 40 per cent vote share across Delhi. With absence of organisational structure and dissention within, its looks a nearly impossible task.
