From Khajuria S Kant in Jammu

undefinedJ&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has been exposed for advocating communal division of J&K on the Irish style.  CM’s ‘Ireland type solution’ remarks, said “The National Conference has been working for the implementation of the outrageous and communal Dixon Plan right from day one in 1951 while acting as a tool of the Anglo-American Bloc to destabilise India via Kashmir.” The Chief Minister has made a wild statement suggesting that Irish Plan should be applied to the State of J&K and this has let the cat out of the bag as he stands exposed for pursuing the communal Dixon Plan.

Omar Abdullah expressed the view that the “State can never be independent and will always remain under Indian sovereignty” and that “Britain’s Northern Ireland peace process and devolution in Scotland could ‘inspire’ a future settlement”. He based his formulation on the premise that Jammu & Kashmir is “landlocked and lacks natural resources”, and hence, cannot become independent. “But the peace process in Northern Ireland and the devolution in Scotland could ‘inspire’ a future settlement in which ‘sovereignty is not threatened but you recognise the nationalist sentiment that exists and you evolve that,” he was quoted as saying. He expressed these views during an interview to the United Kingdom’s leading newspaper, Telegraph. It was in 1998 that London and Northern Ireland clinched a deal over power-sharing government after prolonged violence and the devolution in Scotland under which London established a Scottish Parliament invested with powers to make laws on various issues.

BJP’s national “outspoken” spokesperson Meenakashi Lekhi who was in Jammu while speaking against Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for questioning J&K’s relation with India went to such an extent that she demanded that Omar Abdullah should be disqualified as Legislator and should be debarred from becoming member again for speaking against Constitution of India and Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir. The Chief Minister has started browbeating the Centre by exploiting the innocent people of J&K by challenging the Accession, pleading for communal partition of the State which the people of J&K had rejected in 1947 by saying no to Jinnah.

Ashok Khajuria, BJP State Legislative Party leader said that the unreliable Government headed by NC & supported by Congress only is to share the loot of the State Ex-chequer. He said the State Congress shall be digging its grave with the National Conference in case they don’t respond to the call of the general will of the people of J&K.

Although fiery Congress Minister Sham Lal Sharma has taken Omar Abdullah to task for creating political uncertainty in the State by repeatedly questioning accession of J&K with Indian Union, no other Congress leader or Minister has supported Sham Lal Sharma. All Congress leaders and Ministers are hesitating because they want to be in the good books on National Conference leadership.

Prof Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of National Panthers Party and Member of National Integration Council reacting strongly against CM’s ‘Ireland type solution’ remarks, said that Omar’s statement deserves total condemnation by every nationalist party and thinker. Besides he has committed a grave criminal offence by violating the ethics and provisions of the oath of office which he has made to uphold unity, integrity and sovereignty of India. Omar Abdullah should be brought to justice without any leniency for challenging the integrity of India by preaching secession. “He has taken up the board which his grandfather had relinquished in 1975 by signing an Agreement with Mrs. Gandhi’s government to accept the Accession unconditional. The Chief Minister had challenged the Accession which is now a part of the history and any challenge to it amounts to sedition” asserted Prof Bhim Singh. He said that Government of J&K has been ruling with authoritarian and highly undemocratic style.

Expressing its dismay over the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah statement regarding the so-called Ireland/Scottish type settlement of the Kashmir, Panun Kashmir (PK) said that the Chief Minister should avoid giving such statements that have a tendency to give fillip to the fissiparous tendencies in the state. PK leaders said that the time has come when sensitive state matters need to be de linked from the expression of ‘populist sentiments’ and vote-bank politics.

“It is observed that Omar by virtue of his statement in UK has put himself and the other secessionist forces, unfortunately, on the same page. A time when Pakistan had become pro-active on the borders, the need to foster unity amongst the nationalist forces is paramount”, the Panun Kashmir leaders said. They demanded that October 26 or 27 to be declared as the “State Day” by the J&K Government as it was on this day that the State of J&K acceded to the Union of India legally and constitutionally.

It is not the first time that Omar Abdullah has given such statement on relations of Jammu and Kashmir with India. In his speech to the State Legislative Assembly on October 6, 2010 Omar had also said J&K had acceded to India and not merged with it as it did not sign the Instrument of Merger like other states. He said that accession of J&K was temporary and conditional. On September 25 this year, Omar Abdullah had sought to internationalise the Kashmir issue during his meeting with the European delegation. He had, inter-alia, said: “While all the (princely) states acceded to Union of India and then merged with it, the Jammu & Kashmir only acceded and not merged. That is why we have special status, our constitution and the state flag. The political issues of Kashmir are born with the militancy in 1990 but their genesis is long back associated with the partition of the country when the future of all (princely) states was decided other than Jammu & Kashmir”.
