Despite police atrocities Kosi Parikrama continues

Despite close vigil of UP police and barricading created at many places, the 84 Kosi Parikrama continues on 14th day also. The saints from different parts of the country are joining it, though the police has arrested majority of them. The saints and Rambhaktas are joining the Yatra walking through the fields and narrow streets of villages. The saints and workers arrested till September 4 were released from Faizabad and Lucknow jails on September 5. But the arrest of more saints and workers still goes on, as the Yatra is moving further towards its destinations.

On September 6, VHP patron Shri Ashok Singhal was not allowed to enter UP at Ghazipur border in Delhi when he was going to Deoband, where the Hindus are being persecuted by both the Muslims and the local administration for four months. The UP police stopped his car and did not allow entry into the state. 

On September 6 the Yatra reached Ramnagar of Barabanki. It had the saints from Rajasthan and Ayodhya. Till the time of writing this report the Yatra was going on. On September 5, the Yatra began from Faizabad and reached Tikaitnagar. The police arrested all the saints of the batch in Niyamatganj. They were from Maharashtra. Prominent among the saints who were arrested included Swami Janardhan Bhete Maharaj, Swami Vishwaddhanand Maharaj, Swami Balasaheb Nagre, Swami Rangnath Gahana, Swami Madhav Maharaj, Swami Bahadsaheb, Swami Uttam Ganpati Daghate, Swami Uttambhanga Lalachand Maharaj, Swami Rangnath Mahana, etc. A total of 6 saints and 23 workers from this group were arrested by the police. Despite the arrest of two groups some saints continued on the Yatra.

On September 4 the Yatra was joined by Warkari saints from Maharastra. Prominent among them included Swami Ghambahareji Maharaj, Swami Vitthalji Maharaj, Shri Tuntuneji Maharaj, Swami Penoro Maharaj, Swami Sapore Maharaj, Swami Eknath Maharaj, etc. They were arrested at Behlsar of Rudoli.

Similarly on September 3, the Yatra reached Amarganj passing through Janmejay Kund of Faizabad and Ajrauli crossing. The saints and workers from Gorakhpur were arrested here. Prominent among them were Mahant Mauni Baba, Mahant Bharatdas, Mahant Dinesh Das, Sant Lallanji Maharaj, District Panchayat member Shri Kalamesh Yadav, Block Pramukh Shri Vinay, Gram Pradhan Shri Siyaram Rawat and 50 other workers. Meanwhile, another group of saints reached Amaniganj, which was arrested there only. It included Swami Shraddhanand, Mahant Ramadhar Das, Shri Lalji Giri, etc. Here also a group of saints evaded the police arrest and continued on the Yatra.

Mahant Nrityagopal Das, president of Shri Ramjanma- bhoomi Nyas, appealed to the saints to patiently move on the Yatra as the entire society is standing with them. He said the religious uplift would bring a change in the country and no persecution by the government can stop this change. He said the question of Shri Ram temple reconstruction is connected with the faith of crores of Rambhaktas and faith cannot be suppressed.

On September 2, the Yatra reached Janmejaya Kund. Prior to the Yatra reaching there a group of some saints and workers was arrested near Astikan. But in the second group some reached their stipulated point, which was also later arrested by the police. Those who were arrested had the saints from Bihar.

On September 1, the saints from Meerut and Ayodhya reached Astikan near Faizabad, where around one dozen saints were arrested by the police. The saints who were arrested included Ramayani saint Ramshankar Das, Adyodhya, Mahant Haridas, Mahant Ramdas, Swami Manglanand, Swami Bhanananda, Swami Arvind Tyagi, Mahant Sitaram Das, Mahant Ramnaresh Das, Meerut. Some saints were also from Delhi.

On August 31, the Yatra reached Bikapur. The saints reached this point passing through different routes. But some of them were arrested at Bikapur police post. The saints from Amarkantak were led by Mahamandaleshwar Swami Subadhdas Maharaj and the second group was led by Sant Gopaldas from Ayodhya. The third group of the saints was led by Swami Vishwapra-pannacharya from Madhya Pradesh. The group included Swami Sadananda, Swami Rameshmani, Swami Gokarna, Swami Bhole Maharaj, Swami Ramdas Maharaj and Mahant Swami Jamunagiri Medhi Maharaj from June Akhara. These saints reached the stipulated point.
