undefinedNoted businessman and entrepreneur of Assam Shri Dipok Barthakur will be felicitated with the first Swami Vivekananda Smriti Karmayogi Award instituted by My Home India. The award will be presented by RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat at a function to be held in New Delhi on September 1.

Shri Barthakur excelled in the field of business but he did not forget paying back to the society. His portfolio of charitable and social activities is as long as his number of years.

Highlighting his life and work Shri Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, director of Rambhau Mahlgi Prabodhini, Mumbai, has written an open letter to Shri Barthakur. In the letter he said, “…I am writing this letter with a particular purpose. While the entire North-East is suffering from a slew of problems, two key issues that demand your interventions for finding some enduring solutions are need for greater promotional efforts for cultivating an entrepreneurship culture in the entire region and creating more avenues for greater North-East literacy to be promoted in other parts of India.

“…When most of the youngsters in the entire North-East have become victims of cynicism, confusion and cluelessness, I request you to write an autobiography and let people know how did you achieve this success, virtually from nowhere. The North-East and the nation require that the message of your life reaches in every nook and corner to bring the GEN NEXT out of the thick darkness of disappointment. In the days of HOW TO? books today, I  believe; your autobiography would visually be a volume that can be named as HOW TO OVERCOME ADVERSE CONDITIONS? Many like me look up to you, Sir, as mentoring institutionalised.

Sir, my second request is for using your experience and vast network of professional and social relationship for the cause of initiating a MISSION  NORTH-EAST LITERACY. Other parts of India need to be integrated with the NORTH-EAST more vigorously than other way round. You can lead such initiative that may include various planned efforts for setting-up Centres of North-East India studies, re-structuring school syllabi, promoting National Integration Tourism, evolving a Sister-Institution Network involving institutions from NE and other parts, etc. Thinking big is important, but when a great person lends support and provides leadership, sir; they get the requisite strength for implementation.

“When elders turn 75, the practise is to offer them something and seek their blessings. I am aware that I am doing exactly other way round. But when true and authentic mentors are in short supply, they need to work overtime. Maybe, the destiny demands more from you as you are the one who can satisfy those demands, Sir.”
