Kathmandu
: Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh Nepal organized Shri Guru Poornima function at Marwari Seva Samiti Hall here on July 27. The function was presided over by Mahanagar Sanghachalak Shri Om Prakash Khandelwal. India’s national organising secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad Shri Sunil Ambekar was the chief guest.

The event started with the blissful chanting of Vedic mantras by students of Sri Sathya Sai School, Kathmandu. It was followed by speech from Shri Ambekar and Bhagva Dhwaj Poojan and offering of Guru Dakshina by the swayamsevaks.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Ambekar highlighted the greatness and relevance of the tradition of Guru Shishya. He said, “In spite of availability of various ways of learning, the students today are going astray due to lack of proper guidance from the teacher. In such a situation, the sole way to provide students with proper guidance towards right direction is through the implementation of the sacred Guru-Shishya tradition in today’s educational system too.”

He further said, “The environment today is facing a lot of adversities, since the people today have forgot the proper way of living. Implementing the Hindu way of living in the family, society, nation and the world could be the only solution to save the environment.”

Highlighting the significance of Bhagva Dhwaj as Guru as accepted by Dr. Hedgewar during the initial days of Sangh, Sri Ambekar ji said, “Sangh has regarded the most sacred Bhagwa Dhwaj as the Guru instead of any particular individual. The Bhagva Dhwaj is a symbol of one of the basic human values ‘sacrifice’. It teaches us to sacrifice our selfish motives for the service of the society. And on the occasion of Guru Poornima, showing our reverence to our Guru, we offer some valuable things for the service the society itself.”

About 200 Karyakartas from Mahanagar Sakha attended the Dhwaj Poojan program and offered Guru Dakshina on the occasion.
