The Government of India has declared Shravanapoornima as Samskrit Day. The Chennai unit of Samskrit Bharati celebrates the day every year with Samskrit events, which are gaining appreciation and participation from Chennaites. This year being the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, it has decided to dedicate the Samskrit Day celebrations to all school children. Last year, over 1,300 students from 63 schools of Chennai participated in the event organised under the title Balotsava. This year the Samskrit Bharati in association with Sanskrit Department of DG Vaishnava College will celebrate the Balotsava for two days from August 24 to 25 at DG Vaishnava College, Arumbakkam, Chennai. The Balotsava is planned with various events and competitions for school children to inculcate in them the eternal values embedded in the culture of this land. Many other institutions have also been invited for the event.      —Bureau Report
