Blind in Muslim Appeasement, Congress Government of Delhi declares 4 holidays for Muslims, 3 for Hindus, two of which are on Sundays.

AS the assembly elections are approaching in Delhi, the state Congress Government has started making all efforts to woo the Muslims. The holiday list issued for the year 2013 under Negotiable Instrument Act for bank employees and other financial institutions proves it. The government declared holiday for Hindu employees only for three festivals (Holi, Diwali and Dussehra) and two of these festivals, Dussehra and Diwali, are on Sundays. There is no holiday for Hindu employees on Ram Navmi, Shri Krishna Janmastami and Maha Shivratri.
According to Governement notificaiton (vide No. F.29/2/2012/GAD/DSGAD-III/3373-3420 dt. 21.08.2012) the Government declared 15 holidays under the N.I. Act for the year 2013. Out of the total 15 holidays, 4 are  for Muslims, 3 for Hindus, 2 for Christians, 1 for Jains, 1 for Sikhs, 1 for Buddhist festivals while 3 are National Holidays.

It is clear discrimination with the Hindu employees. All the bank employees are agitated on the decision. The National Organisation of Bank Workers (NOBW), an industrial federation of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, condemend the Governmetn decision and demanded immediate amendment in the holiday list declaring holidays for at least Ram Navmi and Shri Krishna Janmastami under the N.I. Act. In this regard, a letter was sent to the Chief Minister Smt Sheila Dikshit and Lt. Governor of Delhi Shri Tejender Khanna on April 13.                                      (FOC)
