Mohan Bhagwat

MY life is not for my comforts, it is for the service of mankind and making Bharat a Vishwaguru. This was the message of Swami Vivekananda to all of us,” said RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat in Bhopal on March 24. He was addressing a gathering in a national seminar organised by Makhanlal Chaturvedi National Institute of Journalism to commemorate Swami Vivekananda’s 150th birth anniversary year. Kanchi Shankaracharya Sri Jayendra Saraswati and Vice Chancellor of the University Prof BK Kuthiala also shared the dais.

Shri Bhagwat further said nobody should feel him or her inferior. What is needed is to recognise his/her strength and totally dedicate and surrender to a cause. If the dedication is total, success is certain. He said the speech of Swami Vivekananda became so much popular because it was delivered from the core of the heart and every expression used in the speech was directly from his heart. He said the message delivered at the Chicago conference was not for the Americans but for the Indians, who were arrested in slavery and had lost their confidence. The words of Swamiji generated self-confidence among the people. The RSS chief appealed to the people to dedicate themselves for the service of the needy and help everyone make progress.

Kanchi Shankaracharya said only the task which is finished with wisdom is completed satisfactorily. He also stressed the need to work in unison as unity has strength.
Earlier on March 23, Justice (retd) Shri Devdutt Madhav Dharmadhikari said peace can be established in the society by following the ideals of Swami Vivekananda. He said world peace can be ensured only through Vedic knowledge and spiritualism. He said social organisations should establish spiritual centres. Even today, our country is being driven by cultural ethos. Country’s soul is spiritualism and science. He said the public should be aware for giving a healthy, capable and powerful system.

Swami Jitatmananda said the views expressed by Swami Vivekananda have proved true word by word. He highlighted importance of Vedic knowledge and said “man is not a political animal”. Swami Vivekananda had visualised victory over world through spiritualism. He said it is the effect of Swami Vivekananda’s lectures and views that study centres have been established in 20 universities in United States of America including three at Harvard University. He said that Swami Vivekananda was in fact a visionary, whose foresighted ideology aimed at establishing India as world guru.

Madhya Pradesh Government has decided to institute Swami Vivekananda International Award comprising Rs 50 lakh. Madhya Pradesh Culture Minister Shri Laxmikand Sharma said Vivekananda Jyoti Yatra would visit every village and Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy of life and ideologies would be included in syllabus from class 3rd to 12th.  The Minister said it was decided at the meeting of festival committee chaired by Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan that Swamiji’s 150th birth anniversary would be celebrated till January 12, 2014. During the period, Swami Vivekananda Quiz will be held in which youths and children will participate. He said that youths will be associated with all the programmes.
Shri Sharma said that winners of district, division and state-level competitions will be taken to visit

Kanyakumari and Vellore Mutt. He said that a book containing lectures delivered and discussions held at the symposium will be published and distributed. The Minister said that youths will come to know of Swamiji’s life and persona through these programmes.  Proj Brijkishore Kuthiala threw the light on the objectives of the symposium.
