OUR farmers are forced to commit suicide even after over 6 decades of attaining freedom. One complete generation has passed away yet the farmer has not been able to progress. This statement was made by Sh. Muralidhar Rao, National General Secretary of BJP. Murali ji was speaking in Indore. Addressing a huge gathering of farmers in the Kissan Jamavda organised by Swadeshi Jagran Manch, Murali ji said, that over 3 lakh farmers have committed suicide till date. Criticising the farm land acquisition , he opined that it was done for industrialists and traders.
He further added that hardly 1% of country’s budget is being spent on farming community that constitutes over 60% of our population.
Government is inviting large MNCs like Walmart, Coca-Cola by allowing FDI in retail sector. Walmart claims that it will generate over 10 million jobs in India but they don’t talk about the jobs that will be lost in the process, he asserted.
Murali ji stressed the need to prepare a master plan for villages. Such a master plan must envisage action plan for total development of villages and must focus on creating job opportunities in the villages.
Murali ji was also critical of political parties dividing farmers. Are farmers united? Have they ever fought for their rights together, asked Muralidhar Rao? If any one farmer fights for his rights till end, the benefit goes to every farmer. Hence farmers will have to come together and wage a successful struggle, he appealed. It is a long drawn battle and will not be over in a year of two. He asked government not to acquire any land that does not have consent of over 75% owners.
Sh. Krishna Morari Moge presided over the Kissan Jamavda. In his presidential address he talked about the adverse effects of chemical fertilizers on health of people and also on the farm lands. Diseases like, cancer, heart problems, physical deformity etc. are direct outcome of the excessive use of these harmful chemical fertilizers. He stressed the urgent need to shift to organic farming for health India.
Special invitees Praful Saclecha and Devinder Bhatia also supported the demand for village master plan and promotion of organic farming in their speeches. Uibhag convener of Indore SJM, Balram Verma read the key note address and district convener Mahesh Bairagi welcomed the guests.
