ABRSM silver jubilee function in Lucknow
A two-day convention of Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh was held in Lucknow from August 25 to 26 to celebrate the silver jubilee. More than 600 teachers from different parts of the State attended the function. The participants from primary to higher educational institutions resolved unanimously that the entry of foreign universities be banned or conditional permission be granted to them on the assurance that they will follow the Indian educational values and morals.
The national joint organising secretary Shri Om Pal Singh said that the ABRSM is the only organisation of teachers of all cadres which keeps the national interest in mind, while also struggling for the interest of the teachers. He said that all the new experiments in the field of education will fail, unless we adopt the Indian traditional standards.
Inaugurating the convention Shri Lalji Tandon, Member of Parliament expressed concern over the increasing commercialisation of education in India. Presiding over the inaugural session Shri Rajendra Agrawal, MP from Meerut, said India had disseminated the light of wisdom all over the world, when people everywhere were roaming in darkness; and today the foreign universities are coming with their offers of knowledge universities. We need to stick to our roots, he added. National organising secretary Shri Mahendra Kapoor stressed the need of further expansion of the organisation. Dr Nirmala Yadav said the government is ignoring the problems of teachers and that has resulted into the degradation in the entire educational system.
