RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat met some senior saints of Haridwar on August 11 and held discussions with them on various issues. He discussed several burning issues with Sharda Peethadhishwar Shankaracharya Swami Rajrajshwarashram. At the same ashram, he also met senior saints of different Akhadas. He urged the saints to come forward to safeguard the interest of the Hindus who are being preyed to various atrocities.

Shri Bhagwat attracted the attention of the saints to growing negligence of the Hindus despite their being in majority. He also discussed the issue of violence in Assam and other parts of the country with the saints. Shri Bhagwat was welcomed by the saints from Juna, Udaseen and Mahanirvani Akhadas. During the meeting VHP general secretary Shri Champat Rai was also present.

In the evening, the Sarsangha-chalak visited Bharatmata Mandir and sought the blessings of Swami Satyam-itranand Giri. He also addressed a sant sammelan there. He said it is the most sacred duty of the saints to guide and unite the Hindu society and it is only through sanga-than, sanskar and sewa (unity, character and service) that the Hindu society can make progress and achieve its rightful place. It is high time for the saints to dedicate themselves for the sake of Hindu society. The society guided by the saints can really attain perfection and high values, he added.

Swami Satyamitranand Giri said eminent philosophers, scholars and savants the world over have candidly acknowledged and acclaimed the greatness and glory of Hindu culture, philosophy and thoughts. “Hindu philosophy and way of life have all along been providing guidance to the humanity for its comprehensive well-being, and have also made commendable contribution to the spiritual and scientific progress of the world. Inspired by this sublime thought and feeling, countless great personalities of Bharat have propagated and promoted this cultural vision in many countries, seeking nothing but the welfare of the entire humanity. Now again the saints should see that the Hindus are awakened and organised efforts are made for their progress and wellbeing,” he said.

Swami Harichetnanad Maharaj, Swami Chinmayanand, Swami Kalyananand, Swami Sudarshananand, Swami Gyan Das, Swami Kamal Das, Swami Lalitanand and many other prominent saints also addressed the Sant Sammelan.
