Renowned gaubhakta and Jodhpur Prant Sanghachalak of RSS Bhanwarlal Kothari passed away in Bikaner on January 13. He was 77. Born on June 6, 1934 in Bikaner itself, Kothariji had his education from Dungar College of Bikaner, Punjab University and Shanti Niketan, West Bengal. He was founder president of Bikaner Vyapar Udyog Mandal and also president of Bikaner Nagar Nyas. He joined the Sangh in 1976 with the inspirations of senior Sangh Pracharak the late Sunder Singh Bhandari. He became Bikaner Nagar Sanghachalak in 1983 and then Bikaner Vibhag Sanghachalak in 1989. In 2000 he was made Prant Sanghachalak of Jodhpur. He held this responsibility till he breathed his last.

He was instrumental in the enactment of anti-cow slaughter law in Rajasthan and also played a key role in protecting thousands of cows during the famine in Rajasthan. He was also active during Shri Ramjanmabhoomi movement in 1991. He was national treasurer of the Vishwa Mangal Gau Gram Yatra conducted in the year 2009-10. He was the founder chairman of Rajasthan Gau Sewa Aayog. He was president of Rajasthan Gau Sewa Sangh, Jaipur. Paying tribute RSS Akhil Bharatiya Sewa Pramukh Shri Sitaram Kedilaya said the work done by Kothariji for the cow protection would be remembered and said that Kothariji practically materialised the projects to prove economic importance of the cow in modern perspective.
