IB warning to Kerala, RPF

IB warning to Kerala, RPF

By S Chandrasekhar

The Central IB Chief Harisena Verma has warned the Kerala Police and RPF to be extra-vigilant in Kasargod district following reports of bid to sabotage, derail and sink trains.

It has become a normal feature to see huge stones, concrete slabs and concrete sleepers placed on railway tracks in the nights. In September, an eight kilo weighing stone was placed on the track, near Kumbla station, and it was the alertness of the public, which saved the day. More recently, a huge concrete slab was placed on the Vamachchoor Bridge near Manjeswaram to derail and sink the Mangalore-Chennai Express. It was the alertness of the loco-pilot, which saved thousands from sinking to death. Stoning of trains is a regular incident, with a woman losing her eye recently.
