Swami Vivekananda had gone via Thiruvananthapuram to Kanyakumari on December 1892 and meditated for three days at the Rock, where the three seas meet. This had given Swamiji the divine power and enlightenment to make the epoch-making oration at the World Parliament of Religions in Chicago.

Later Swami Vivekananda stayed for three days at the house of Prof. Manomaniam Sundaram Pillai and had meetings and discussions with dignitaries and spiritual leaders. For three days he rested on a ‘Stone Cot’.

Now as part of the 150th Jayanti Celebrations of the Swamiji, the great-grandson of the professor, Dr TS Ramaswami, has donated the cot to Bharateeya Vichara Kendram. A few days back Padma Sri P Parameswaran Director, BVK, received the letter  regarding handing over of the cot, from  Dr Ramaswami.

The heavy stone cot will be fitted with a sculptured pedestal and would be taken in a procession from the place where Swamiji stayed to BVK head-quarters, Sanskriti Bhavan on January 11, 2012.

It will be permanently installed there for the public.

A huge procession  would be organised on January 12, the Vivekananda Jayanti Day, in which Tribal affairs Minister PK Jayalakshmi, Kerala Varsity Vice-Chancellor Dr Jayakrishnan, ISRO Chairman Dr K Radhakrishnan, cricketer Sreesanth and sages of various ashrams and nationalist organisations will participate.
