Nitin Gadkari’s book, Vikas ke Path, released

“Gadkari shows how politics can be an instrument for social and economic transformation”

— Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

“Each of us is a book—a collection of beautiful poems, songs and literature, which is full of experiences. Cutting across party, religious and cultural line, we should enrich our life by exchange of knowledge of book, humanism; humanity and religion, which is absolutely essential for everybody,” said noted spiritual guru and founder of Art of Living Foundation Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Guruji. He was releasing a book of BJP president Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on October 8.

The 392 pages book, Vikas ke Path (Roads to Development) is a compilation of speeches of Shri Gadkari. Senior BJP leader Shri LK Advani, RSS Sahsarkaryavah Shri Suresh Soni, Shri Nitin Gadkari and senior journalist MJ Akbar were also present on the occasion. The book, which is in Hindi, has been published by Prabhat Prakashan, New Delhi.

A special documentary on Shri Gadkari’s work in Maharashtra was also screened at the function. The documentary, prepared by acclaimed film director Bharatbala, showcased his work among the farmers in Maharashtra.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar further said the only difference between a human being and a book is that a human being dies, but the book never. “Like us, the book is born but does not expire as we do after an age. It remains alive in libraries for centuries and continues to inspire or show right path to generations. This book written by Gadkariji proves how politics can be an instrument for social and economic transformation,” he said. Applauding the role of Shri Nitin Gadkari in the fight for a Janlokpal he called upon the people to spiritualise the politics to eliminate corruption, socialise the business to eliminate poverty and secularise the religion to eliminate terrorism and fanaticism.

Former Deputy Prime Minister Shri LK Advani said the common man is disappointed with the politicians today. “In the last one and-half years, only corruption has been talked about. The image of political leaders is not good amongst common man. They have a sense of ignominy for politicians. But with the reading of Shri Gadkari’s book the image of political leaders will definitely improve. It will work to present an ideal picture,” he said.

Shri Suresh Soni said the book perfectly presents the pain and sufferings of the villagers. He said the country would not make progress with an increase in the richness of already rich people, rather we have to show how many poor became rich. Hailing the work done by Shri Gadkari in the rural areas of Maharashtra he said the politicians often hanker after power, but the common man should be the focus of all developmental activities.

Earlier, Shri Gadkari stressed upon the need to have a development-oriented approach if we wanted to see the country on the top. “Our political leaders should have d e v e l o p m e n t-o r i e n t e d approach only then can we be rid of maladministration, corruption, poverty, unemployment and starvation. We should have dedication, sensitivity and feeling of commitment. I have learnt all these from my source of inspiration and role models Nanaji Deshmukh, Atal Behari Vajpayee and Advaniji,” he said.

Urging the elected representatives to get themselves involved in public services, Shri Gadkari said politics is an instrument for social and economic transformation. “Time has come; every Member of Parliament and Member of Legislative Assembly should initiate action. Change of rulers will not help; transformation of power will also not work. We do not need to alter our society but we need political development,” he added.

Editor of Sunday Guardian Shri MJ Akbar said for all round development and growth, a formula of modernity—five Es — should be adopted. “Five Es are equality of political rights, language, religion, gender and economic. Everyone should be treated equally as per the law and Constitution of India,” he said. He said the book is not on politics but about ‘development’.
