Ganesh Utsava is a symbol of unity and equality—Dinesh Chandra

 VHP general secretary (organisation) Dinesh Chandra described Sri Ganesh Utsava as symbol of unity and equality in the society. He was speaking at a function in Hyderabad. He said about 100 years ago, Lokmanya Balgangadhar Tilak had started the festival with a view to bring unity among the people. Hyderabad is among the cities of the country which has cosmopolitan culture, he said. He further said Ganesh festival is part of the steps being taken to abolish caste and discrimination from the society. Not only in India, but in Muslim countries like Indonesia also, the festival is observed, he said.  (FOC)
