JORDAN Weiss is an American intelligence officer. She gets posted to London ten years after she suffered the loss of her boyfriend there. She is yet to come to terms with that loss. But back in London she gets sucked into a case that was not assigned to her. And that involves the death of her boyfriend Jared. She and Jared were in a group of eight. Jordan is the protagonist in Pam Jenoff’s The Officer’s Lover.

She pursues the lead, despite warnings from her boss. On the way, she is joined by rakish officer Sebastian Hodges. She gets in touch with two of her friends Chris and Duncan. Duncan vanishes after meeting her and Duncan’s lover Vance is killed. Another girl assisting her is blown up in a fire in Jordan’s apartment, where she had gone to pick up something. Sarah, Jordan’s friend is attacked. With each killing Jordan’s resolve to get to the bottom strengthens.

As events open up, Jordan realises that her posting in London was manipulated. That she had been ‘led’ into the investigation as she could open the access to the suspected hoard of Nazi gold. But, for Jordan the investigation has another more serious implication. And that is, Jared could be alive.

A sure page turner, the novel moves at a fast pace, keeping interest alive page after page. Pam Jenoff, a former Foreign Service Officer with the State Department, is the author of two previous successful novels.
