I fully support and endorse the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Ms Jayalalithaa’s statement on June 14, 2011 that Union Home Minister P Chidambaram’s election victory was a fraud on the electorate. The then Tamil Nadu CM Karunanidhi and the present Union Textile Minister Dayanidhi Maran, along with Chidambaram had threatened the Returning Officer of the Sivaganga constituency with dire consequences if he did not issue a certificate of victory. This despite two recounts had proved that Chidambaram had lost the election to AIADMK candidate Kannappan. Chidambaram not only committed a gross election crime under the Representation of the Peoples Act, but he is also guilty of gross corrupt practice by spending more than Rs. 25 crores in the election. Now that Ms Jayalalithaa has become CM, she should order an independent probe under the IPC, besides her party pursuing the election petition in the Madras High Court.
