VHP president Shri Ashok Singhal received the prestigious Dharmashree Award at a function organised at Eshwaramangala near Mangalore, Karnataka, on May 22. The award was presented by Pejawar Seer Shri was Vishwesh Teertha Swamiji, Ramachandrapura Seer Shri Raghaveshwara Bharati Swamiji and Chief Minister of Karnataka Shri BS Yeddyurappa. The function was organised by Dharmashree Foundation of Eshwaramangala.
Dharmashree Award is presented annually to those who have rendered meritorious services in the fields of religious, social and other sectors. Shri Singhal’s name was selected for this year’s award. In previous years, Shri Raghaveshwara Bharati Swamiji, Shri Rama Jois and reputed writer Shri SL Bhyrappa, have received the Award.
