VISHWA Hindu Parishad and the Bajrang Dal staged a demonstration at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on May 9 against portraying Goddess Laxmi on a bikini during a fashion week in Australia recently. Addressing the demonstrators the VHP leader Shri BL Sharma ‘Prem’ said such incidents are intolerable in a civilised society. Following the protest, though the designer tendered apology to the VHP and assured not to repeat the offence in future, the VHP said it is not sufficient for hurting the sentiments of the Hindus. After the demonstration, a delegation of the VHP leaders presented a memorandum to the High Commissioner of Australia demanding stern action against those involved in the frequent attacks on Indians and also hurting the religious sentiments of the Hindus.
