WE are proud of winning World Cup in cricket, but can we be proud of growing corruption day-by-day by leaps and bounds? Scams after scams are coming into light. We boast of GDP growth but is it not a fact that the poor are becoming poorer and the rich are becoming richer? Our poor PM acts neither as a good beaurocrat nor as a good politician but the impression that has gone around is that he is simply the most obedient darbari of Smt Sonia Gandhi. Dr Manmohan Singh has no discretionary powers and there were some accessions when he tried a bit to exercise them, then he was brushed aside badly. So, he and his government have become a laughing stock in the eyes of the whole world.
We should try to tax our brains to go-down the memory lane to understand the basic nature and mind of Sonia Gandhi. Is it not true that she had usurped the post of All India Congress Committee president for the first time from the late Sitaram Kesari through the help of her syocophants by sheer physical force? When we know that Shri Kesari had enjoyed full trust and confidence of both Prime Ministers, Pt Nehru and Smt Indira Gandhi, and was very loyal to the Congress party. It is also said that when Smt Indira Gandhi had lost election after the Emergency polls, Soniaji tried to persuade her husband Rajiv Gandhi to leave the residence of Indiraji and go else where. After her marriage with Rajivji, Smt Indira Gandhi had kept her for some months in Bachchan family so that she could learn Indian house-hold moves and manners because Nehru and Bachchan families had long and good relationship. But what is the situation today? Is it not true that the old relationship has taken a back seat and rather turned into bitterness? Similarly, we remember that she took 12 years to adopt Indian citizenship. She was annoyed with the late Prime Minister PV Narsimha Rao who had initiated liberal economic reforms by making Dr Manmohan Singh the Finance Minister in his cabinet. All of us know who was bent upon making PJ Thomas, charged for corruption as CVC behind the screen and the PM Dr Manmohan Singh had to obey the oral orders of the screen-dictator. But it was God’s grace that the Supreme Court dismissed him. Thus, the conclusion is to realise who is responsible for bad governance and rampant corruption in the country.
Now, I am reminded of the famous adage that we can befool some people for all time and all people for some time but we cannot befool all people for all time. The Congress government at the Centre and the Party are facing crisis after crises and have been exposed for their foibles, follies and failures before the people at large. Not only that, people are now in no mood to see and tolerate the ruin of our nation at the hands of the Congress government and party led by Smt Sonia Gandhi’s political, economic, social, religious and international policies. People’s awareness is being manifested through the campaign led by moral leadership of Shri Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev all over the country. They are getting immense support to their anti-corruption campaigns from all sections of the people. Thus, it seems that the corruption nexus between the bureaucrats, big bussiness-houses and politicians in power will be broken. The election result in the near future will testify and reveal the truth.
I feel that similar conditions are gradually gaining momentum against corrupt policies and pratices of the government as were manifested under the leadership of the late Jai Prakash Narayan before the Emergency in 1974-75 and its ultimate success is known to everybody.
