“SERVICE requires sensitivity, a feeling of realising the sufferings of others. Those who are working in the field of service must have this feeling in their heart. It is basically this feeling that encourages one to involve in service activities. While serving others we should also not expect anything in exchange. Therefore the people serving others should refrain from publicity or drawing personal gain,” said Uttar Kshetra Sanghachalak of RSS Dr Bajrang Lal Gupt. He was speaking at the annual function of Ganga Sewa Sanstha in New Delhi on March 27.
Ganga Sewa Sanstha works with the objective of encouraging the people of villages living in urban areas to contribute in the development of their respective villages. Presently, the Sanstha has projects in four states and soon it is going to expand them in ten states.
Referring to the growing number of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in the country Dr Gupt said the word NGO does not reflect the real feeling of service. “It is nothing but a deception,” he said. He lauded the efforts of Ganga Sewa Sanstha for encouraging people of urban areas to contribute in the development of villages. “The concept that ‘my village is my pilgrimage centre’ is unique in itself. Since we have a feeling of happiness while visiting a pilgrimage centre, we also feel happy to visit the villages,” he said stressing the need of greater transparency in social life. Noted sculpture Shri Adwait Gadnayak, former Delhi BJP president Shri Mangeram Garg, president of Badri Bhagat Jhandewala Temple Society Shri Prem Kapoor and president of Ganga Sewa Sanstha Shri Shravan Goel also spoke on the occasion. A souvenir highlighting the activities of the Sanstha was also released on the occasion.
