The opening ceremony of Kalyan Ashram’s girls hostel building was held recently in the presence of Kalyan Ashram national joint general secretary Shri Kripa Prasad Singh. The function began with formal puja as per the local traditions. Local eminent personalities Shri Mangalhari Debbarme, Shri Kartik Das and Shri Fanibhushan Malakar appreciated the service activities of the Kalyan Ashram for upliftment of Janjatis of the State for the last 30 years. This hostel was earlier being run in a rented house. At present there are 31 students in the hostel. They all belong to different Janjatis including Chakma, Jamatiya, Tripuri, Renag and Halam. Shri Kripa Prasad Singh pointed out that Kalyan Ashram runs 205 hostels all over India and 1,06,117 students are studying while staying there. (FOC)
