The Vice-President forward this complaint to the Home Ministry and this was sent to CBI.
CBI is now seeking sanction of Registrar General of Supreme Court for probing KGB.
The KGB family was pro-Congress and Sreenijin was Congress candidate and Youth Congress leader. During the recent Youth Congress elections he spent lakhs to get his favourites elected to top slots. Due to continuous media exposures, Sreenijin resigned from YC.
The DYFI which spoke again KGB on dayone had its mouth plastered. The DYFI press meet on this issue was cancelled and the CPM paper and channel ‘Deshabhimani’ and ‘Kairali’ remained mute.
Justice VR Krishna Iyer, former Supreme Court Judge broke the ice by writing to President and demanding appointment of a high power commission to probe charges against him. He also requested President to direct KGB to resign from NHRC chairmanship. He also disclosed at a press meet that an ex-Judge of Kerala High Court requested him not to send his petition to the Prime Minister!
Condemnation of KG Balakrishnan’s wealth accumulation and demands for probe came from Fali S Nariman, Prasanth Bhusan, Bar Associations, Bar councils etc.
Meanwhile in a bid to irritate his beta-noire Pinarayi, VS Atchudanandan, Chief Minister, ordered vigilance probe against Sreenijin’s assets.
Also faced with the threat of dismissal, KG Bhaskaran (KG Balakrishnan’s brother) resigned from the post of government pleader on health grounds.
Media Reports have also come on KG Balakrishnan’s link with A Raja, in the light of Supreme Court Justice HL Gokhale’s complaint that KG Balakrishnan sunk a complaint by Madras High Court Judge that Raja tried to influence him in a murder case.
Meanwhile, Adv Manohar Lal Sharma of Supreme Court has filed a petition seeking judicial probe into KG Balakrishnan family assets.
If this is the shape of Judiciary in the future, God save India.
