VHP, Bajrang Dal seek consent for Cattle Bill

MANGALORE: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal have appealed to President Pratibha Devisingh Patil to accord presidential consent to the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Bill 2010. An eight-member delegation from the Dakshin Karnataka unit of the VHP and the Bajrang Dal met her on December 7 and urged to accord presidential consent to the Bill, which was passed by both the Houses of the State. VHP State president Shri MB Puranik told her that any further delay in giving consent to the Bill would cause suffering to tens of thousands of cattle every day, and defeat the very purpose of the Bill which seeks to prevent slaughter of cattle. Medical Education Minister Shri VS Acharya, Vajradehi Mutt seer Swami Rajashekara-nanda, State convener of Gau Raksha Abhiyan Shri Vinay L Shetty, deputy general secretary of the VHP Shri Krishnamurthy were also part of the delegation.
