J&K unit of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) urged the all party delegation which visited the State on September 20 and 21, that any dilution to AFSPA would prove very costly to the nation. In a memorandum, the premier student organisation of the country drew the attention of the delegation to the pathetic conditions of Jammu and Leh, as the regions are facing step-motherly treatment by the Centre as well as from the State government since the last 60 years. “The people of Jammu are lined up to put forth their demands but the representatives of the central delegation are roaming door-to-door to meet the Hurriyat and anti-nationals. We never understand this dual policy of the Centre and its allies,” the ABVP said in the memorandum.

The ABVP also demanded equal representation in State Assembly to politically empower both the regions of Jammu and Leh. Demanding immediate clearance to a central university for the State, the student organisation said the Centre must give due share in employment to the people of Jammu and Leh.
