THIS is quite a thrilling story of a newborn vampire and the dark side of the world she inhabits. Riley sends out ‘newbie’ Bree, a three-month old, to hunt with Kevin and a blond kid. Actually Bree had run away from an abusive father in her early days to take to a life which involves staying on the streets. She avoids becoming a ‘junkie ho’ before getting suckered by the promise of a cheeseburger and subsequently turns into a vampire.
On the way they come across a pimp slapping and punching a prostitute while a ‘zoned-out’ prostitute watches the proceedings. Bree lets out a growl so that the fire in her throat emits out blood. Bree lands in front of the crying prostitute and before she can open her mouth to scream, Bree puts her teeth to crush her windpipe. “There was just a gurgle of air and blood in the lungs and the low moan I could not control. The blood was warm and sweet” and it quenches the fire in Bree’s throat. Bree tastes the blood of the other blond girl who has absolutely pure blood unlike that of the first victim’s which is mixed with drugs. Bree and Diego pick up the dead bodies and on the way, they go for a swim in a dark cavern. Bree hesitates initially to go into the inky black water but enjoys it later.
This is a book which will interest the perverted minds or those who live in a ‘woolly’ world.
