“THE situation in the country today is that even the good things are being presented in negative manners. Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar had proposed for reservation for the uplift of the deprived and backward people, but today it has become a political tool and is being misused by some people for political opportunism,” said RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi. He was speaking at the concluding ceremony of Patheya Kan silver jubilee year in Jaipur on April 14. Patheya Kan is the fortnightly magazine which is sold more than 1.35 copies per issue and there are now efforts to increase its circulation to five lakh.

Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi said the equality granted by the Constitution is being today neglected through Commissions like the Rangnath Misra one. “In such a situation it is the responsibility of the media to play a constructive role and give right direction to those who are moving on wrong path,” he said adding that journalism has a responsibility towards the society even in the age of commercialisation.

Shri Bhyaiyaji Joshi also honoured two journalists—Shweta Jagaria and Sandip Deshpande with Patheya Kan Navodit Patrakar Puraskar. He also honoured the winners of essay and poem competitions.

Earlier, Devarishi Shri Kalanath Shastri inaugurated the Patheya Kan Silver Jubilee Exhibition. Akhil Bharatiya Sampark Pramukh Shri Hastimal and editor of Vivek Shri Ramesh Patange were also present on the occasion. Former executive director of Reserve Bank of India Shri DP Sharda presided over the function.
