THE two-day workers’ meeting of Samskrit Bharati Daxinbang Prant concluded at Keshav Bhawan auditorium in Kolkata on April 8 in the presence of national organising secretary Shri Dinesh Kamath. A total of 34 workers attended the meeting. Concluding ceremony of the meeting was organised as Sanskrit Anuragi Sammelan, which was attended by 70 Sanskrit loving people from various streams of the society including teachers, professors and students of various colleges and universities along with many other people from all sections of the society.
Addressing the gathering Shri Dinesh Kamath urged the countrymen to get the Sanskrit registered as second language in the current census which has started recently, to establish the dignity and pride of the Sanskrit. He said Sanskrit is a well-known and easy language for conversation not only in India but in abroad also. During the visit of the then President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam to Greece his counterpart welcomed him in Sanskrit on which Dr Kalam astonished over it.
Shri Kamath pointed out that in many schools of London Sanskrit is a compulsory language today. “In Masuchusets Institute of Technology, Sanskrit is compulsory for 27 thousands students in America also. In Russia, many people learn Sanskrit to learn study Geeta. By the efforts of Sanskrit Bharati more than one lakh Sanskrit speaking classes have been conducted in India for which lakhs of people can speak easily in Sanskrit now although they have no degree or diploma in Sanskrit,” he said.
Srimad Bandhugourav Brahmachari presided over the sammelan and said if we want to know our ancient heritage and knowledge, we must know Sanskrit and the efforts made by Samskrit Bharati are praiseworthy. Sushri Tripti Banerjee recited Sanskrit songs and Shri Pranab Nanda, state organising secretary of Samskrit Bharati, proposed a vote of thanks.
