The author Shaifali Sandhya, a Professor of Clinical Psychology has done a lot of research to do this book. She has come up with very surprising data. For instance, according to her, 80 per cent of divorces are initiated by women. And almost all married couple (94 per cent) say, given another chance they would not marry the same person again. A classic case of familiarly breeds contempt?
Women are revered in India, as a notion. But the crime against women from foeticide to dowry death to abandoning is probably among the highest in the world. The book makes several important observations on these contradictory situations. The rate of dissolution of marriage in India now is 7.1 per 1000. Sandhya looks at some of the most crucial issues involved in this figure. There are several cases studies to buttress the points. Coming from a practicing psychologist and therapist, the book offers stark facts without titillation.
