No society can survive resisting the changes,” said director of Bharatheeya Vicharakendram Sri P Parameswaran. He was speaking at Karyakarthru Sangamam organised by Bharatheeya Vidyanikethan Kerala at Kallekad under Palakkad district of Kerala. About 2000 workers from 450 schools in Kerala participated in the programme. Bharatheeya Vidyanikethan is a pioneer educational organisation of Kerala. It has been celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The Karyakarthru Sangamam was part of that celebration.

“Challenges of the changes should be undertaken. It is not accepting the changes as such; on the other hand, it is accepting the good and rejecting the bad. We should acquire the knowledge of this discrimination through value based education. Even the highly educated persons are not exhibiting ethical values. Individuals who do not have values in character will not be able to lead the society; because values are more important than life and values are invaluable too. It is the practical side of our spiritual life. Culture is not religion but the totality of values,” said Shri Parameswaran.

He said we have a wide range of educational network through the length and breadth of the country. But in the course of time we forgot the imagination, vision and concept of education. Thus, our nation lost its world acceptance of jagadguru. Today, we look at foreign universities as the models of education. At the same time, we ignore our heritage. Our Nalanda University had been destroyed even before the Cambridge University was put up. We must have an education to perpetuate such an old heritage. This does not mean that we should abandon the knowledge from outside. We must be able to assimilate the borrowed knowledge and dissolve them in our culture.

Education with a perfect vision is the only remedy for all problems. The first step of national reconstruction is the education with national outlook. Looking at this point of view, an active intervention in Kerala education field, which is deviating far from the national main stream, is inevitable. The cent percent literacy has led Kerala to a devilish state. What Kerala needs today is not a negative approach, but the educational field must be led with a positive outlook imbibing things with realistic perception, he added.

Sri Parameswaran said education is not an activity limited to students only. Teachers also have equal importance. There are godliness and perfection in each student. Teachers are to discover them and flourish. The perfection is not unique in everyone; it differs in combination. The parents are to render the maximum support to the teachers in their task. And the Vidyalaya karyakarthas are to build up a conducive atmosphere for this educational process. All we want is to create student community who has commitment towards the institution, the family, the society, the nation, and the human race, he added.

Kerala Prant Sanghachalak of RSS Sri PEB Menon inaugurated the Sangamam. Vidya Bharati national president Sri PK Madhavan, Bharatheeya Vidyanikethan state president Sri R Raveendran Pillai, former Akhil Bharatiya Bouddhik Pramukh Sri Ranga Hari, Dakshin Kshetra Pracharak Sri S Sethumadhavan, Prant Pracharak Sri A Gopalakrishnan, Vidya Bharati Akhil Bharatiya joint organising secretary Sri Prakash Chandra, Sah Karyadarshi Sri JM Kasipathi and other important office bearers led various sessions.
