“Some people believe that the country cannot make progress without English language. This is wrong. There are only three countries in the world-England, America and Australia-where English is national language. Whereas majority of the developed nations like France, Germany, Italy, Russia, China have made tremendous progress with the help of their local languages. The time has come when we need to get rid of English language and western culture. The rural talent of the country should be given a fair chance to flourish and we must see that they do not develop inferiority complex due to English,” said former RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri KS Sudarshan. He was presenting Manik Chandra Vajpayee Rashtriya Patrakarita Puraskar to noted Hindi columnist Shri Ramshankar Agnihotri in Bhopal on August 23. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan was also present on the occasion. The Puraskar consists of a cheque of Rs one lakh, a shawl, coconut and a memento.

Shri Sudarshan further said that he personally requested the Chief Ministers of nine states to establish exclusive Hindi universities to promote rural talent. “It is wrong to call Hindi the Rashtrabhasha. It is a Sampark Bhasha of the country,” he said adding that the countrymen should draw inspiration from Marathi and Bangla, which flourished without the support of English.

Shri Sudarshan said that the election process is faulty and should be reformed forthwith. He suggested that only the person who gets more than 50 per cent votes should be declared elected and real representative of people. Today, even the person who gets hardly 20 per cent votes represents 100 per cent people.

Expressing concern over the use of black money in elections, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the expenses of elections should be borne by the government. “If an industrialist gives money to politicians for contesting elections, he will definitely try to take unfair advantage from the person who wins. Until this system continues, the corruption too will continue, he said.

Prior to it, speaking at a seminar noted TV actress Smt Smriti Irani expressed concern over the growing interference of advertisers in media. Member of Parliament Shri Prabhat Jha, Group editor of Dainik Bhashkar Shri Shravan Garg, senior journalist Shri Mahesh Shrivastava, Chancellor of Makhanlal Chaturvedi Patrakarita Vishwavidyalaya Shri Achyutanand Mishra, noted columnist Shri Devendra Swaroop and National Executive Member of RSS Shri Ram Madhav also spoke on the occasion.
