RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat advised the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh activists to develop at least one model village in every Prant of the country as per their concept of rural development and farming. “There is a need to present an example before the people to ensure all-round development of these villages according to the policies and programmes of the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh,” he said. Shri Bhagwat was addressing a gathering of Kisan Sangh leaders at a Chintan Shivir organised in Bhopal on July 24. About 50 national level workers participated in the Shivir. RSS Sahsarkaryavah Shri Suresh Soni and Akhil Bharatiya Pracharak Pramukh Shri Madan Das also guided the workers at the meeting, which began on July 21.
Shri Bhagwat further said about 80 per cent of the people depended upon farming are small farmers, and the Kisan Sangh should attempt to reach all these people. Stressing on the constitution of Gram Samitis he said all the people who think for welfare of the farmers should be brought to the Kisan Sangh. “Please keep in your mind that the thinking of the Kisan Sangh should touch everyone and the Gram Samitis should have representation from all sections of the society,” he suggested.
The meeting discussed at length the fast deteriorating condition of villages, farmers, traditional farming methods, migration of rural people to urban areas and wrong implementation of government policies. Apart from economic development, a detailed discussion was also held on spiritual and intellectual development of the villages. Kisan Sangh president Shri Anna Saheb Murkute, organising secretary Shri Dinesh Kulkarni, general secretary Shri Prabhakar Kelkar and many other leaders also spoke on the occasion.
Later, talking to Organiser Shri Dinesh Kulkarni said the so-called green revolution in the country is being undertaken by the multinational companies, which is more dangerous than the previous green revolution. He said the UPA government is following the policies of British government. “The disastrous effects of SEZ have been proved. The recognition to BT Brinjal that the government has granted recently is very dangerous. The similar condition is developing with regard to maize,” he said. About the loan waving propaganda by the Central Government Shri Kulkarni said it is not the permanent solution to the problem and the Kisan Sangh treat all these measures as an initiative for vote bank which is dangerous for both the farmers and the country. He said not providing profitable price to the farmers is injustice to them. About the NAREGA, he said this money is going to the hands of industrialists and it would not improve the agricultural infrastructure. He said the UPA government is cheating the farmers by making populous announcements, which would ultimately benefit none. “A study of all the Five Years Plans show that the policies of the government have been faulty and they promoted only the big industries, which ultimately led to more unemployment,” he said.
