VHP general secretary Dr Pravin Togadia urged the Election Commission (EC) to disqualify the Congress Party for promising religion-based reservation in its election manifesto. Talking to mediapersons in New Delhi, he said if the Election Commission does not want to be termed as partial it must disqualify the Congress from participating in the elections. Dr Togadia also demanded a ban on Muslim League, which talks only of Muslims and is responsible for the massacre of lakhs of people.
He said the Constituent Assembly, the Constitution and the High Courts of Hyderabad and Allahabad have outrightly rejected religion-based reservation, even than the Congress is seeking votes by promising it in its manifesto. ?If it continues the Election Commission would be considered as anti-Hindu. It has failed to stop the people to contest the elections who have even been convicted. Dr Togadia said the VHP and the saints are educating the countrymen to vote only to the parties and the candidates who assure to accept their 11-point agenda.
He said terrorism would not stop till preaching of jehad is not banned like in the US and the UK. ?Our police which has been trained to maintain the simple law and order cannot fight against the terrorists who have been trained as army commandos. Therefore, a section of the Police should be trained as the army commandos and they should be empowered with special powers like Army Special Act while dealing with terrorists. Apart from it, the local support of the jehadis should also be eliminated. Only blaming Pakistan will not do any good until the local support of the terrorists is curbed,? he said.
About the Ram temple Dr Togadia said the talks of negotiations and judicial verdicts in this regard is nothing but denying the Ram temple to Hindus. The Parliament should enact a law handing for it, he added.
