First Prem Kapoor award presented to Mohan Chand Sharma

The first Prem Kapoor award, instituted in the memory of the late Prem Kapoor, was jointly presented to the late Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma who sacrificed his life while fighting against terrorists at Batala House in New Delhi and noted social activist Shri Prabhati Lal. The award, which consists of Rs 51,000, was received by Smt. Devendri Devi, mother of the late Mohan Chand Sharma and Shri Prabhati Lal. Shri Narottam Sharma, father of the late Inspector was also present on the occasion. Shri Prabhati Lal is a noted social activist of Mewat, Haryana, and has been working for cow protection for decades. The award has been instituted by the family of the late Prem Kapoor in his memory and was presented on March 6, at Jhandewala Temple, New Delhi. The late Prem Kapoor had played a key role in developmental activities of the temple.

A bronze statue of the late Prem Kapoor was also unveiled at the entrance of the newly constructed Prem Kapoor Auditorium in the temple complex. Another statue of the late Badri Bhagat was also unveiled in the garden developed near the temple. On this occasion, a blood donation camp was also organised in association with the Rotary Club.
